As India diversifies to bridge the Strait of Hormuz, energy imports from Africa continue to grow. india news

जैसे-जैसे भारत होर्मुज अंतर को पाटने के लिए विविधता ला रहा है, अफ्रीका से ऊर्जा आयात लगातार बढ़ रहा हैOfficials said India has diversified its sourcing of crude oil and gas to address shortages caused by the disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, while prioritizing LPG and LNG supplies to keep retail consumers and critical sectors unaffected. “Energy availability has definitely improved and we are in a much better position than we were a month ago,” said Sujata Sharma, joint secretary in the petroleum ministry.

2 LPG tankers arrive at Indian ports, 2 more en route from the Strait of Hormuz carrying heavy cargo

India imports 5.5-5.6 million barrels of crude oil per day; Before the conflict, 40–45% came through the strait. For LPG, India meets about 60% of its 31 million tonne annual demand through imports, with 90% met through the strait. Natural gas consumption is 191 MMSCMD, of which 51% is imported, about 60 percent from West Asia.Another official said India is using the US, Russia, Canada, Norway and West African countries like Nigeria, Algeria and Angola for LPG and countries like Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and Mozambique for LNG. Cargo has already been procured from some sources, while negotiations with others are in the final stages.

Are you worried about the delivery time of domestic LPG cylinder?

Officials said imports from Africa have been rising steadily, even as West Asia remains dominant. India has diversified its crude oil sourcing from 27 to 41 countries in a decade, reducing its dependence on the Strait from 45 percent to about 30 percent.Sharma said, adequate stock of petro products and LPG is available. The delivery time for domestic cylinders has increased to 4-5 days due to panic booking, but no dry-out has been reported, and the timeline is expected to reduce soon.

Seeking to end the war without reopening the Strait of Hormuz, Donald Trump tells allies Iran is refusing to budge

Seeking to end the war without reopening the Strait of Hormuz, Donald Trump tells allies Iran is refusing to budge

us President donald trump Iran has told its allies it is ready to end the war without reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has refused to open despite repeated warnings from the US President. This is another soft stance adopted on Tehran as Tehran has refused to bow down after US-Israel started the war.In recent days, Trump and his aides concluded that an operation to reopen the strategic chokepoint would likely prolong the conflict beyond his preferred four- to six-week timeline, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Iran war near ‘end’? Trump indicated that the US could ‘end the operation’ despite the closure of Hormuz. report

The report said Trump opted to focus on achieving key objectives, i.e. weakening Iran’s naval capabilities and missile stockpile before curtailing active hostilities, while increasing diplomatic pressure on Tehran to restore normal trade flows. If those efforts fail, United States officials will look to Europe and allies in the Gulf to take the lead in reopening the strait, according to the report.White House press secretary Carolyn Levitt also said that Arab countries could be asked to share the burden of the military operation in Iran.“I think it’s something the president would be very interested in. I wouldn’t go further than him on it but it’s certainly a consideration, I think you’ll hear more from him about it,” she said.Trump last week gave Iran a 10-day cooling-off period, a decision he called a “gift” from Tehran, allowing eight oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz and halting planned attacks on key energy infrastructure. He also described the move as a sign of progress in ongoing diplomatic efforts, and said Iran had asked for more time through backchannel communications.

Should the US rely on its allies in Europe and the Gulf to reopen the Strait of Hormuz?

“He said to me very nicely through my people, ‘Can we get more time?’ Because we’re talking about tomorrow night, which is very early, and if they don’t do what they have to do, I will shut down their power plants,” Trump told Fox News.Starting on February 28, the United States and Israel launched coordinated attacks on Iran, which was retaliated with strikes, escalating conflict throughout the Gulf region. The Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global energy flows, has since come into sharp focus. The narrow waterway linking the Persian Gulf to the Indian Ocean is now effectively closed, sharply reducing daily maritime traffic and disrupting the movement of container ships, dry bulk carriers and oil tankers.

Sky's impact is only precautionary: MI coach Jayawardene

Mumbai: Many fans were surprised to see India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav I’m playing as an impact option Mumbai Indians‘IPL opener against Kolkata Knight Riders here on Sunday, but MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene Putting an end to the speculations, he said that this was just a precautionary measure due to the injury suffered by the legendary batsman after leading India to victory in the T20 World Cup.Go beyond limits with our YouTube channel. Subscribe now!Jayawardene insisted that there were no “unwanted stories” here. SKY did not field for MI in their first match of the season, however he scored 16 runs from 8 balls as the hosts defeated KKR by six wickets, recording their highest successful run chase in IPL history. “I hope we don’t create unwanted stories. The camp is happy. He wanted a few extra days off. His back was a bit tight and he was fielding and so on, but I knew we had five more days from this game to the next game. I just wanted to give him a little extra time. When Jayawardene was asked if Suryakumar was being used as an impact option just like the MI captain, Jayawardene told reporters, “He was keen to field for three-four overs at the end, but I said that’s fine.” Rohit Sharma Had no fielding role in the previous season. “So please don’t make up any stories. I have to be careful.”Jayawardene said, “These are very valuable players and I want their support throughout the season. These are conscious decisions taken by the management and there is nothing beyond that.” Jayawardene was pleased that Mumbai Indians finally ended their initial IPL winning streak, which ran from 2013 to 2025.While he praised the batsmen, the former Sri Lankan captain did not seem completely satisfied with the bowling. “Yes, it’s fantastic. It was a good wicket to bat on. When they got to 220, I thought we were a bit weak in execution. We probably gave away 20 runs extra. But the way Rohit (Rohit) and Ryan batted, it was worth watching. “It was also tactical, because if we use Allah (AM Ghazanfar) and Hardik up front, we can’t have too many new-ball bowlers. I needed options in the middle and end, and that was the thinking when we traded Shardul. It is about thinking differently with our bowling combinations to suit different opponents and how we want to go about it,” he said.

Hinjewadi snowfall: Not Kashmir! Hail blanketed Hinjewadi, Pune sparkled with ‘snowfall’ scene

Not Kashmir! Hail blanketed Hinjewadi, Pune sparkled with 'snowfall' scene
Pune received unexpected hailstorm, turning its usual dusty summer into a real winter wonderland. The town, especially Hinjewadi, was covered with snow stones, sparking widespread awe and shared joy. This rare event offered a collective pause, washed away the dirt, and provided a memorable story for residents.

It’s a great base, but we could definitely put a little more “soul” and rhythm into it. To make this feel less like a report and more like a conversation over a cutting tea, I’ve focused on sensory details – the smell of the earth, the distinctly “Pune” vibe, and the collective gasp that the city elicited. Here’s the humanized version:

When Pune traded dust for diamonds

Pune usually follows a predictable scenario at this time of the year: the rising heat, the persistent layer of dust, and that dry air that forces you to reach for your water bottle every ten minutes. But this week, the city decided to scrap the script altogether. There were not only clouds in the sky; It flipped a switch. One minute we were having a normal summer afternoon, and the next, it was raining heavily on the sidewalk. Then came the sound – a loud, rhythmic patter that was definitely not raindrops. Hail. For a few unreal hours, the summer “pause” button was pressed, and the city felt like a different world altogether.

Hinjewadi “winter”

While the changes affected different parts of Maharashtra, Hinjewadi – the land of glass buildings and endless bumper-to-bumper traffic – became the unexpected star of the show.Almost immediately, the group chat and feed were buried under videos of tiny white snowflakes bouncing off car hoods and depositing on balconies. If you look at the ground, you’ll swear someone has shoved a giant snow globe over the tech hub.High-rise buildings: People living on the 10th or 15th floors watched in disbelief as hailstones bounced off their balconies. The “first-timer” feeling: For many who have called Pune home for decades, it wasn’t just “unusual weather” – it was a “where were you then…” moment.

“Not Russia, it’s Pune”

The Internet, as it happens, went into mass meltdown. But it wasn’t just about the weather; It was about shared relief. One person captured the mood perfectly, joking that the city was finally getting a proper angol (bath) after being shrouded in construction dust for weeks. You could almost feel the trees breathing a sigh of relief as the dirt washed away.Comparisons were inevitable. “Is this Switzerland? Kashmir? No, it’s just Hinjewadi Phase 3,” became a trend. Be it a single word “wow” or a 20-second clip of a broken pot, everyone wanted to document the magic.

a collective deep breath

What was really interesting was not the meteorology, but the energy of the city. Before the clouds parted, there was that intense, lifeless heat that made everything feel like a chore. When snow started falling he disappeared. There was a rare mixture of shock and genuine joy. People weren’t just looking at their weather apps; They were stepping out from their balconies, reaching out to catch a piece of the sky, and just… Watching.“It’s those rare moments where a city of millions of people really stops and looks at the same time.”

More than just a forecast

Sure, this caused some chaos. Deliveries were delayed, traffic (somehow) slowed even further, and power grids faltered. But for once, no one minded the “hiccups.” The disruption felt like a fair trade for spectacle. At the end of the day, we didn’t just get a drop in temperatures; We got a story. It’s the kind of day you’ll look back on a few months later when the heat is at its peak again, take out your phone to show someone a video and say, “You’re not going to believe this, but the streets were actually white.”Sometimes, the best things in life are the ones that show up unannounced, break us out of our routine, and remind us that nature still has a few tricks up its sleeve.

‘India is a better mediator than Pakistan’: Israeli envoy on Middle East war

'India is a better mediator than Pakistan': Israeli envoy on Middle East war

As the war in the Middle East enters its second month, efforts to reduce tensions and bring about peace have intensified, with Pakistan attempting to establish itself as a major diplomatic player. However, an Israeli envoy strongly rejected Islamabad’s role, instead expressing a clear preference for India as a “better mediator”.Israel’s Foreign Ministry special envoy Fleur Hassan-Nahoum told news agency ANI from Jerusalem that the conflict escalated soon after it began. “Well, we have been involved in a multi-front regional conflict since October 7, when we were attacked from the south by Hamas, a proxy of the Iranians. And then on October 8, when we are attacked from the north by an Iranian proxy. And so the multi-front has already been happening for some time now, unfortunately.Highlighting developments over the past month, he described what he described as a sharp decline in hostile capabilities. “Today, we see that after a month, there have been considerable military gains. 80% of the Islamic Republic’s rocket launches have been destroyed. The entire navy has been destroyed. The entire top echelon of their military leadership and political leadership has been destroyed primarily. He also claimed increasing internal instability within Iran. “And when it comes to their strategies at the moment we see cracks in the regime leadership, defections from the Basij and complete chaos every day. They’re just, you know, sending rockets at any country they can get their hands on. “So I think there has been a lot of military advantage.”On the United States’ evolving approach, Nahoum outlined what he described as a dual-track strategy combining diplomacy with military pressure. “At every single moment, at every single intersection of this, President Trump has always presented an opportunity for compromise. And it is the intransigence of the Islamic Republic that has prevented compromise and nothing else.”He said such an approach allows for de-escalation while maintaining pressure on the ground. “I think it’s a good strategy to always give them a ladder to climb down from the tree, but at the same time, still have the military advantage to destroy them when we need to.”Commenting on reports of Pakistan attempting to play a mediation role despite the lack of diplomatic relations with Israel, he expressed skepticism. “I mean, I don’t know what the Pakistanis think they’re doing. I think they’re trying to make themselves relevant. They’re a big problem themselves in the world of jihadist terrorism. But, you know, they could try. I’m not sure they’d be very successful.”He denied any agreement on Iran’s nuclear program. “No, of course not. We cannot have a regime calling for total destruction, and also possessing weapons of mass destruction.” There can be no compromise when it comes to the nuclear weapons they possess, otherwise they can get rich fast.”Referring to India’s diplomatic reach, he acknowledged New Delhi’s balanced position. “India is a very close ally of Israel. As you know, your Prime Minister was here just a few days before the war. And we understand that India has good relations with everyone. And if you ask me, they can be a much better mediator than Pakistan. But let’s see how things develop.”

Subscribe now!Chasing an easy target to get off to a winning start to their 2026 Indian Premier League campaign, Rajasthan Royals’ wonder boy tore apart the CSK attack and scored a half-century in 15 balls – which is the joint-third fastest half-century in IPL history. His experienced opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal stepped back and was happy to rotate the strike and give Suryavanshi more balls to face. Jaiswal remained unbeaten after scoring 38 runs on 36 balls. The teenager was out after scoring 52 runs in 17 balls with the help of four fours and five sixes, but by then the match was over. The target of 128 runs was achieved, the win against Chennai Super Kings was achieved in just 12.1 overs and the Royals lost only two wickets. When Suryavanshi left, the scoreboard read 75 runs for one wicket in 6.2 overs.RR were at 74 without loss after the powerplay, while CSK were at 41/4 at the same stage and that is the gist of the story of the night. Dhruv Jurel (18 runs off 9 balls) and captain Riyan Parag (14 not out off 11 balls) played their role in securing an easy win by eight wickets.Last season, the Super Kings faced a real problem in the middle order, which ultimately led to them finishing at the bottom of the 10-team roster. At the start of the campaign, the five-time champions’ entire batting order collapsed in overcast conditions at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.Home team Rajasthan Royals’ overseas fast bowlers, England’s Jofra Archer and South Africa’s Nandre Berger, took advantage of the ‘English’ conditions to rattle the Super Kings’ top order, before the Royals’ other bowlers, including their experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, bowled out CSK for 127 in 19.4 overs.Losing wickets at regular intervals, CSK were 9/94 in the 16th over before Jamie Overton’s fighting knock of 43 off 36 balls helped them set the target of 128 runs.Having spent a lot of time in shelters due to intermittent rain last week, the Guwahati pitch was damp and provided bounce and pace. CSK batsmen failed to rise to the challenge.Wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson, who showed excellent form in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, got out cheaply in his first game in the yellow shirt against his former team. Left-arm quick Berger produced a brilliant performance on the last ball of the second over, with the Kerala opener bowling a ball of length at over 140 kmph that rattled his off stump. Off-pitch turmoil cut short his debut for the Super Kings. In the next over, again on the last ball, Archer’s fuller delivery exceeding 143 kmph troubled the middle stump of CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.Burger hit a four on the next ball, which was the first ball of his fourth over. His sharp bouncer took off the gloves of India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning captain Ayush Mhatre and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel did the rest. CSK were reduced to 19/3.

15 – Suryavanshi took the balls to reach 50, making him the joint third fastest half-century scorer in the IPL. Yashasvi Jaiswal (13 balls), KL Rahul (14) and Yusuf Pathan (15) were the other Indians to achieve the feat in 15 balls or less. Suryavanshi is the second fastest Royals player to reach this milestone after Jaiswal.

62.12 – Suryavanshi and Jaiswal scored 497 runs in eight innings as a pair, recording averages including 100+ and four fifty-plus.
