focus on the fourth dimension

The story of mankind highlights that truth has many more facets than is commonly understood. Tesseract: Geometry of TruthUnveiled through metaphor and animation, movement and music, color and contemplation, our future survival depends on pure intelligence driven by empathy. We live in the age of information. It comes to us from all directions, wider and wider, the accumulation and result of the sum total of human experience and effort. It’s hilarious and disorienting, often both at the same time. Yet the human mind has always been in search of truth, seeking it in innumerable ways and expressing it in equally diverse ways since before the beginning of history. But we are limited by the power of our perception.

The patterns of successive ages—the archives of human ambition and enterprise—exist all around us as prescient, silent witnesses. Who or what can analyze and interpret their geometry? The human mind can do this, but to do so, it needs to be aware of and open to the fourth dimension that is parallel to our 3D world, which always offers perspective and options. Its possibilities are embodied in the Tesseract, a theoretical 4D hypercube that exists only in abstraction. Also read: Interstellar, Einstein, and the strange elasticity of timeAs a historian, The Times of India has created an incomparable archive of the human story over the last 187 years. Its news headlines, articles and photographs testify to and document countless discoveries. Now The Times of India has taken the human story to the next level by conceptualising Tesseract: The Geometry of Truth to reveal the possibilities of alternative choices through story, song and dance at NCPA in Mumbai.

As Voices of the Archive reveals, truth has been sought in many ways, by many people, in many ‘rooms’, over the centuries, from artists and philosophers to fighters and feminists, from empire builders to iconoclasts. History itself is alive to tell what many have forgotten

Opening the mind is not easy, nor is the fourth dimension a simple construct. But there is insight in traveling with Sophia and her alter ego through the eras of human history, where advances in art, literature and science were matched by the exploitation of our planet and people, where revolution and evolution were not on the same path, yet there was an inexorable progress. And somewhere along the way, Karuna fell by the wayside.

In each ‘room’ of human history, Sophia encounters different versions of herself and changing perceptions of truth. Eventually she awakens to an all-seeing and all-knowing presence around her, who guides her to the fourth dimension.

As color and rhythm pulsate across the stage, expressing human thoughts and emotions in many shapes and sizes with spectacular Broadway panache, the outlines of true intelligence emerge. Truth ultimately reveals itself as a Tesseract – tangible yet spiritual, transmitting a mysterious power that could be called empathy. It makes perfect sense for what awaits us in the fourth dimension, at the edge of human perception. Sophia discovers her truth; We also need to find ours.“Tesseract: The Geometry of Truth” is produced by The Times of India, conceptualized and visualized by Mira Jain. The experience “Tesseract: The Geometry of Truth”, is running from 16 to 22 March 2026 at NCPA Mumbai. Book Here
