After Albers, IndiGo chose former BA chief William Walsh as CEO. india news
William Walsh is expected to join IndiGo by August 3
Choosing a management veteran from a pilot with CEO experience shows that his focus will be equally on operations and expansion to ensure that what happened last December does not happen again. Willy, as Walsh is popularly known, will complete his tenure at IATA on July 31, 2026 and is expected to join IndiGo by August 3.A mail sent by Rahul Bhatia to employees on Tuesday informing them of Wille’s appointment as CEO read ‘a guest for a few days’. And the letter sent on March 10 to announce Albers’s resignation was signed as “I am not”.On his appointment, Bhatia said: “As we enter a new phase of transformation and growth, I am delighted to welcome Willy to IndiGo. He is a distinguished and accomplished aviation leader and brings a rare combination of global perspective, operational expertise in building strong customer-centric airlines, deep industry experience and values-driven leadership, making him exceptionally well suited to lead IndiGo at this important juncture of growth.“Walsh said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead IndiGo. The aviation landscape is rapidly evolving, and IndiGo is extremely well-positioned to be at the forefront of this change. I look forward to partnering with colleagues across the organization to build a culture of excellence, innovation, collaboration and lasting value for all stakeholders.”
