Regularization norms eased in 1,511 illegal Delhi colonies. delhi news

Rules for regularization relaxed in 1,511 illegal colonies of Delhi

New Delhi: The Center on Tuesday relaxed norms for regularizing residential properties and small convenience shops (up to 20 sq m) in 1,511 unauthorized colonies in Delhi on “as is where is” criteria. Residents of these properties can now get building plans prepared by any architect empaneled by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and apply to the civic body to obtain ownership rights.Announcing major changes in the norms, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal said properties will be regularized without the need for approved layout plans, a move that will speed up regularization of properties in such colonies, bringing relief to over 10 lakh families living in these settlements. These announcements were made in the presence of CM Rekha Gupta.Earlier, it was mandatory to have an approved layout plan of the area to apply for regularization.

-

Although the Center had envisaged regularizing these colonies in its 2019 rules and subsequently the PM-Unauthorized Colonies in Delhi Housing Rights Scheme (PM-UDAY) on an “as is where is” basis after approval of layout plans, the absence of approved layout plans has been a major hurdle, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs said in a statement.Till the end of March, barely 40,000 conveyance deeds/authorization slips have been issued under PM-UDAY.Gupta said that although there are 1,731 unauthorized colonies in Delhi, those in O zone (Yamuna flood plain), forest/ridge areas and otherwise outside the scope of the scheme have not been included. Besides this, 69 affluent unauthorized colonies like Sainik Farm, Mahendru Enclave, Anant Ram Dairy and Bhavani Kunj have also been excluded. As per the new norms, the Revenue Department of the Delhi government, and not the DDA, will now issue the conveyance deed for ownership rights. The Union Minister said that MCD will conduct drone survey every two months to detect any new small construction. “To ensure that no further unauthorized construction or expansion takes place in these colonies, we have strengthened the enforcement wing of the MCD and Delhi Development Authority,” he said. The civic body will issue ‘certificates of regularization’ and also conduct a survey of vacant plots for creation of civic infrastructure. The CM said that under the revised policy, applications for ownership of properties can be filed online through the PM-UDAY portal from April 24. He said that the process of regularization will be expedited with simplified approval process and stipulated time-frame for release of work within 45 days. The last date for consideration for regularization will be 1 June 2014. The minister said the revised policy will cover old buildings in unauthorized colonies while new construction will be required to follow the norms set by the MCD and seek its permission. The updated policy notified on Tuesday states that shops with an area of up to 20 square meters will be regularized if they have access to 6 meters of right of way (RoW). For shops up to 10 square metres, the required RoW may be less than 6m. Responding to a question, D Thara, additional secretary in the housing ministry, said floor-wise regularization would also be allowed. An applicant can log in to the MCD Swagam portal (https://mcdonline.nic.in/swagam) and choose a colony name, ward and zone, which are auto-populated, the ministry said in an official statement. They will have the option to choose whether the PM-Uday case identity is present or not. Those who do not have such ID will have to log in to the PM-UDAY portal. It said that if the conveyance deed or authorization slip has been issued, an application form will be filled, and if not, the application for the status will be redirected to the PM-UDAY portal. After surveying the building structure, processing of applications and issuance of conveyance deed or authorization slip will be done by the Revenue Department in collaboration with DDA. Applications will be accepted on the SWAGAM portal from April 24 for cases where conveyance deed or authorization slip has been issued. In cases of reconstruction or redevelopment, land equal to 50% of the reduction in ROW should be surrendered to achieve minimum access width (6 m internal roads, 9 m access roads). “Floor Area Ratio (FAR) will be calculated on the original plot area but will be used within the reduced plot after surrender. If the existing FAR exceeds the permissible limit, penal charges (three times the additional FAR charges) will be applicable,” the policy says.Delhi CM It described the revised rules as a step that brings “hope, dignity and long-awaited security” to millions of families. The CM office said a clear timeline has been set for the process, including seven days for the GIS survey report, 15 days for removing the deficiencies and a mandatory 45-day deadline for issuing the conveyance deed. It added that the PM-UDAY register will be maintained and regularization certificates will be issued by the MCD.The CM said regularization will help residents take loans on their properties, thereby opening up opportunities for redevelopment and economic empowerment.

Jasveen Sangha: ‘Ketamine Queen’ Jasveen Sangha gets 15 years jail, sold medicines to Matthew Perry before death from overdose

'केटामाइन क्वीन' जसवीन सांघा को 15 साल की जेल, ओवरडोज से मौत से पहले मैथ्यू पेरी को बेची थीं दवाएं

‘Ketamine Queen’ sentenced to 15 years in prison in Matthew Perry case

Three years after the death of Hollywood actor Matthew Perry, 42-year-old Jasveen Sangha, also known as the ‘Ketamine Queen’, was sentenced on Wednesday to 180 months in federal prison for her long-running drug dealing activities, which included selling ketamine, which contributed to at least two deaths. Perry’s overdose in October 2023 was one of them.Jasveen Sangha was sentenced by United States District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett.Sangha pleaded guilty in September 2025 to one count of maintaining drug-related premises, three counts of distribution of ketamine and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury.Sangha is a dual citizen of the United States and the United Kingdom and has been in federal custody since August 2024.“For years…Sangha operated a high-volume drug trafficking operation out of his North Hollywood residence,” prosecutors argued in a sentencing memorandum. “To grow your business, [Sangha] Promoted itself as an exclusive dealer serving high-profile Hollywood clients…while [Sangha] Worked to expand and profit from her drug trafficking, she knew – and ignored – the serious harm her conduct was causing.Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic that has some hallucinogenic effects and is believed to be administered only by a physician. Before Sangha was sentenced, Perry’s stepmother Debbie Perry asked the judge to impose the maximum possible prison sentence. Debbie Perry said in a victim impact statement submitted to a California court Tuesday that Sangha caused “irreparable” harm.He said, “You did this… You have enough talent for a business that can make money and you chose a path that hurts people.” “Please give this heartless woman the maximum prison sentence so she can prevent her from hurting other families like ours.”Matthew Perry was known for his struggle with drug addiction. A few days before his death, Sangha sold 51 vials of ketamine to Perry. On October 28, 2023, Perry’s personal assistant gave Perry at least three shots of Sangha’s ketamine, causing Perry’s death.

Ketamine queen plans to distance herself from Perry’s death

Sangha worked with Eric Fleming and two days after Perry’s death, Fleming left Sangha with a voicemail on Signal and the message: “Please call. . . Got more information and want to bounce ideas off yours. I’m 90% sure everyone is safe. i never dealt with [Perry]. Only his assistants. So the assistant was the enabler. Apart from this, they are also doing 3 months toxic screening. . . Does K stay in your system or is it flushed out immediately?[?]”In March 2024, law enforcement searched Sangha’s residence and discovered thousands of suppressed methamphetamine pills, 79 vials of liquid ketamine, MDMA (ecstasy) pills, counterfeit Xanax pills, baggies containing powdered ketamine and cocaine, and other drug trafficking items such as a gold money counting machine, a scale, a wireless signal and hidden camera detector, drug packaging material and $5,723 cash was found.

West Bengal Elections: Mamata Banerjee came out to file nomination, said- will go to Supreme Court again regarding SIR

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Led a 400-metre march from his home to the Alipore Survey Building along with around 4,000 people on Wednesday Trinamool Congress supporters, and filed his nomination for the Bhawanipur assembly seat along with four proposers from four different communities, setting the stage for the final phase of Trinamool’s election campaign.Moments after filing her nomination, Banerjee said her party would once again approach the Supreme Court and demand that voters who have appealed before the tribunal against the deletion of their names during the adjudication be allowed to cast their votes in this election. He said, “The Supreme Court had recognized all the voters as genuine voters under the decision and said that their cases will be resolved in the tribunal. What is the point of freezing their cases? We will go to the court again and seek justice.” “I am very upset that so many names have been removed. Out of the 1.2 crore people removed, 32 lakh names were included only because I went to the Supreme Court. But the remaining 58 lakh cases were never opened.” Some deletions may be genuine due to death or duplicate entries. But the 27 lakh voters whose cases are pending before the tribunal are genuine and should be allowed to vote. If these people are not able to vote now then what is the point of adding names later?” he asked. Those who signed his nomination papers included Mayor Firhad Hakim’s wife Ismat, representing Muslims, Ward 71 Block President Bablu Singh, representing Hindus, filmmaker Nispal Singh, representing Sikhs, and Bhawanipur Education Society vice-president Miraj Shah, representing Jains.Banerjee declared that she had Rs 75,700 in cash, 9.8 grams of gold jewelery and assets totaling Rs 15.4 lakh. His annual income is Rs 23.2 lakh, he does not own any vehicle or property and his only source of income is royalties earned from books and bank interest. There is no criminal case pending against him.On Tuesday morning, as Mamata Banerjee stepped out of her Harish Chatterjee Street residence at 10.35 am, wearing her trademark white saree and white slippers, she was immediately surrounded by a sea of supporters who had been waiting for hours to catch a glimpse of her.Shrabani Roy, a resident of Kalighat, who was present with a group of 10 women in green and white sarees, blew conch shells to welcome the CM. He said, “This has been a ritual for many years now. When she files her nomination we always come dressed in coordinated colors to accompany her. We wished her luck and she blessed us. Such simple gestures motivate us to work hard to ensure the party’s victory.”On the way, Banerjee stopped for a while at the Baglamukhi temple near the Kalighat bridge and bowed her head in prayer, before resuming her march. The route soon turned into a festive procession, with supporters showering flowers and raising slogans of ‘Mamata Banerjee Zindabad’ and ‘Joy Bangla’. The crowd also included party worker Tarak Pat-Ra, whose brother-in-law’s name has been struck off the voter list. “Didi has assured us that she is trying to restore the names,” he said, joining the sloganeering. As senior party functionaries – Firhad Hakim, his daughter Priyadarshini, Rashbehari MLA Debashish Kumar and eight councilors from Bhawanipur constituency – walked along, Banerjee waved to supporters and occasionally stopped to shake hands with familiar faces. Near the Alipore Jail Museum, she stopped again to bow before the portrait of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose before proceeding with folded hands towards the Survey Building.Addressing supporters after exiting, the CM made an emotional remark: “I live here 365 days. Everything – my birth and my work – has been here. Whatever I am, I am because of this place. To the people of Bhawanipur, I offer my respects – Pranam, Sat Shri Akal, Jai Jinendra, Salaam. Bless us so that not only I, but all our candidates on 294 seats can continue to serve you.”

Today's Quote by Marie Curie: "Humanity also needs dreamers, for whom the selfless development of an enterprise is so tempting that it becomes impossible for them to devote their care to their own material gain."
Quote of the Day by Marie Curie (Image source: mariecurie.org.uk)

In every time period, progress has been made by both practical thinkers and those who were willing to dream beyond short-term rewards. These dreamers often work quietly, motivated not by money or fame but by a deep desire to learn and find meaning. One of the most important scientists in history, Marie Curie, said something that people still remember. His life is proof that great things can be achieved by being dedicated to learning and being curious. His words remind us that many of the world’s greatest contributions have come from people who were motivated by something bigger than their own profit. This is especially important to remember in a world where success is often measured in material terms. This idea is even more important in today’s fast-paced and competitive world.

Quote of the Day by Marie Curie

“Humanity also needs dreamers, for whom the selfless development of an enterprise is so tempting that it becomes impossible for them to devote their care to its material gain.”

This quote from Marie Curie defines a different kind of success

“Humanity also needs dreamers, for whom the selfless development of an enterprise is so tempting that it becomes impossible for them to devote their care to its material gain.”Marie Curie’s quote brings out a truth about progress that people don’t often talk about. It talks about people who are very focused on their work, not because it pays well, but because the work itself is important to them. The term “disinterested development” means working on something without expecting to gain anything from it. These are people who go after ideas because they think those ideas are important.Curie says that such people are very important for humanity. Many important discoveries and improvements would not have happened without them. Their main goal is not to earn money or become rich, but to solve problems, learn new things and add to what we know.

Who was Marie Curie and why do her words matter?

Marie Curie was more than a scientist; She was a pioneer who changed the way people thought about science. She was born in Poland in 1867 and later moved to Paris, where she conducted important research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and she is still the only person to win a Nobel Prize in both Physics and Chemistry. His research led to the discovery of two important elements: polonium and radium. He did not make these discoveries to earn money. Curie also did not patent her work, which meant that scientists around the world could use it without restriction. This choice is a direct reflection of what was said in his quote.Curie’s life was full of problems such as money problems and problems in society, especially since she was a woman working in science at the time. But he still cared about his work. His passion and dedication continues to inspire students, researchers and professionals of all ages.

Understanding the Meaning of Marie Curie’s Quote

The quote talks about what dreamers do in society. In this case, dreamers are not people who just think about things. They are people who implement their ideas and work hard to make them come true.Curie says that these people often become so busy with their work that they stop to think about how it will help them. They are driven by curiosity, a sense of purpose, and a desire to help. This way of thinking is different from the common way, which sees work as a way to earn money or achieve status. Instead, it shows that there is a strong connection between passion and hard work. It also says that society needs such people because they push boundaries and make new things happen.

Why are dreamers important to society?

Many important advances have come from people who were more interested in learning than making money. These visionaries have improved science, art, literature and technology.Science researchers work on difficult problems for years without any immediate reward. In technology, innovators come up with ideas that have not been fully understood or accepted for decades. Artists and writers share ideas that change the way people think and act.Marie Curie’s quote reminds us that it is those who choose passion over profit that make these contributions possible. Without these types of people, progress would slow down and many discoveries would not be made.

Balance between passion and practical life

This quote talks about dreamers in a good way, but it also makes you think about balance. In today’s world, it is important to have enough money to survive. But Curie’s words don’t mean you should ignore your practical needs. Instead, they emphasize how important it is to have a deeper purpose.Nowadays many people try to strike a balance between their work and their passion. Some people choose a career that matches their interests, while others follow their passion while working. The main thing is not to give up responsibility, but to make sure that passion is still part of life. This balance is also visible in Curie’s own life. Although she had a lot of problems, she continued to work hard and perform her duties as a teacher, researcher, and mother.

A glimpse of Marie Curie’s work ethic

Marie Curie’s life was full of hard work and dedication. She worked in difficult conditions, often in makeshift laboratories with few equipment. Despite the difficulties, she continued working on her research. His discovery of radioactivity led to discoveries in science and medicine. His work is now used in medical imaging and cancer treatment. These donations were made not to make money, but to learn more about the natural world.Curie’s style of work is very similar to what he said. He thought that knowledge was important and could help people. Her actions show how dedication and passion can have a lasting impact.

Lessons that still apply today

Marie Curie’s words apply not only to scientists and researchers. They are for everyone, no matter who they are. The idea of working with passion is still important, whether you are a student, professional, artist or entrepreneur. His quote tells people to think about more than just short-term rewards and instead focus on what they can do in the long run. It shows how important it is to be curious, dedicated and purposeful. This way of thinking is different from the way most people think about success today, which is based on money. It reminds people that genuine interest and effort often leads to meaningful work.

Other famous quotes from Marie Curie

  • “Don’t be afraid of anything in life, just understand.”
  • “Be less curious about people and more curious about ideas.”
  • “I was taught that the path to progress was neither fast nor easy.”
  • “One never notices what has been done; one can only see what remains to be done.”

How do his words influence modern thinking?

There has been an increased focus on creativity and innovation in the last few years. Governments, businesses, and other organizations all support research and development. But true innovation often requires people who are willing to take risks and try new ideas without expecting anything back immediately. This idea is supported by a quote from Marie Curie. This shows how important it is to create a place where dreamers can do well. People should be free to think for themselves and follow their own interests. This is good for schools, workplaces and society as a whole. His words also resonate with the idea of purpose-driven work, when people seek meaning in their work. This method is becoming more and more important in the world we live in today.

The human side of a scientific symbol

Despite her success, Marie Curie faced real problems. She had to deal with the death of a loved one, health problems, and problems in society. Despite these problems, she remained focused on her work. His story is not only about his success in science, but also about his strength and willpower. It shows how people can overcome difficult times and keep working towards their goals. This human quality makes his statement even more important. It represents not just an idea but something that actually happened.

A message that continues to inspire

Marie Curie’s quote about dreamers reminds us that every person has a role to play in creating the future. It shows how important it is to be passionate, curious and dedicated. His life and work show how these traits can help people make great contributions. In a world that often values material success, his words give us a different perspective. They remind us that progress depends on people who are willing to think about more than their own interests and work toward a larger goal.People from many different fields are still inspired by his words. The idea of working with passion is still important in science, art, school, and everyday life. The path of progress will continue as long as there are people willing to pursue their dreams.

Opposition raises questions over rejection of notice demanding removal of CEC

New Delhi: Criticizing the opposition’s rejection of notices by both the Lok Sabha Speaker and the Rajya Sabha Chairman on the motion seeking removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Wednesday alleged that the move to reject the notice at the very first stage amounts to “strangling” the impeachment mechanism envisaged in the Constitution. He was addressing a press conference where the opposition parties that had signed the notice came together to register their objection. Trinamool Congress (TMC) Leaders Derek O’Brien and Sagarika Ghosh, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Manoj Jha, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Sandeep Pathak, DMK’s Yogesh and NCP-SP’s Rajeev Jha were present at the press conference. To underline that all opposition parties are united on the issue, O’Brien also read out the names of other parties including the SP, Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Left who had signed the notice.Asked what the opposition’s strategy would be going forward, Singhvi said, “Whatever is acceptable within the ambit of law and the Constitution, we will do and the way it has been handled will not be allowed to remain the same.” However, he refused to comment on what the next step would be and when it would happen.Arguing that the presiding officer has exceeded the scope of “prima facie” assessment by looking into the merits of the allegations, Singhvi cited for example the order of the Rajya Sabha Chairman saying that he has responded to each and every allegation made by the opposition and given his opinion which is tantamount to conducting a “mini trial”.Singhvi said, “We are here today because “when accountability is postponed indefinitely” then “democracy itself is impeached” and that is our concern….”He asked, “If the truth is so strong in favor of the CEC or EC then why is there fear of investigation? If the system is so clear then why do the majority party and all other supporters try to suppress the proposal.” Noting that this is a “very serious matter” and that the decision “casts a shadow on the majesty of Parliament” and raises concerns about the ruling BJP’s willingness to allow an Election Commission investigation.Emphasizing the constitutional and legal position, the Congress leader alleged that there were several fundamental errors in the orders of the presiding officers of both the Houses of Parliament. He also said the presiding officer’s order is “largely silent on any consultation”.“You have forgotten that our creators, far more intelligently than us, created a process that was a judicial process followed by a political process – both corrective. And you have binocularly replaced it with the opinion of one person – the Presiding Officer of each House. This is completely contrary to the architecture that was enunciated by our Founders and Founders with respect to impeachment,” he said.Note that impeachment is a six stage process but the problem with orders from presiding officers is that it ends everything in the first stage itself. He said the Constitution provides a detailed process which includes preliminary approval, formation of the judicial committee, framing of charges, presentation of report, parliamentary discussion and finally decision. He further alleged that specific allegations raised by the opposition, including alleged electoral irregularities and delay in compliance with judicial directions, were not adequately addressed in the rejection order.
