BENGALURU: A shocking series of incidents turned Sri Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center at T. Begur near Nelamangala in Bengaluru Rural into a battlefield after a controversial classroom episode involving a professor and an alleged love proposal triggered outrage and violence. The incident reportedly happened on Wednesday and came to light through a video recorded by the students on their mobile phones.According to preliminary information, the trouble started when a professor, identified as Mohammed, allegedly proposed to a student inside a classroom. The identity of the professor has been allegedly revealed in two videos that have gone viral. In one clip, the professor, while addressing the class, claims that a student from the batch had proposed to him and he too was in love with her. To make this occasion memorable, he is also seen distributing chocolates in the class.The student immediately objected and asked to take up the matter with the principal. She further questioned him about when he proposed to her. The professor questioned him, “Didn’t you say I love you Mohammed, didn’t you say so.” He further claimed that there was CCTV footage to support his statement, to which the girl demanded him to show it. He then walked out of the classroom saying he would talk to him the next day, and asked the students to eat chocolate. It is also revealed that the professor had brought a carton box full of chocolates and had arranged for a person to distribute them among the students.However, tensions increased as soon as they left the classroom. What started as an argument turned into a complete ruckus on the campus, with the agitated girl allegedly hitting the professor with her slippers/sandals, while other students also joined in and abused and attacked him.The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Nelamangala Rural police station in Bengaluru Rural district. A senior police officer told TOI that no complaint has been filed so far by the student or the professor.
