New Delhi: Trinamool Congress supporters and Bharatiya Janata Party News agency ANI reported that a clash broke out during the election campaign on Friday in Hooghly district of West Bengal.BJP candidate from Pursura assembly constituency Biman Ghosh alleged that four party workers suffered minor injuries in the incident. He also said that an FIR is being lodged in the local police station.Speaking to ANI, Ghosh accused TMC workers of disrupting the campaign and warned of a strong electoral outcome for the BJP. “They (TMC members) were creating ruckus during the election campaign; they should also realize what awaits them after the 4th, when the BJP’s ‘tsunami’ will sweep across Bengal. It would be best for them to mend their ways before it is too late,” he said. Four of our workers have suffered minor injuries and we are filing an FIR at the police station.This incident has come to light at a time when the campaign ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections has intensified and both the parties are making sharp political attacks.Earlier on Friday, there was a war of words between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP over the BJP’s recently released Bengal Sankalp Patra. The document, themed “Sonar Bangla” (Golden Bengal), outlines proposed changes in governance with a focus on national security, youth employment and women’s safety.Union Home Minister launching the manifesto in Kolkata Amit Shah Described it as a roadmap to transform governance in the state and align it with the broader vision of a “developed India”.Shah also criticized the Trinamool Congress government and alleged that its 15-year rule had resulted in the breakdown of law and order and widespread public discontent. He said the manifesto aimed to “lift every section of Bengal out of despair” and provide “a new way forward for farmers beset by fear”.He further claimed that people in the state were “scared and frustrated” and were demanding change, reiterating that the BJP’s governance model is in line with the vision of national development.Voting for the 294-member West Bengal Assembly will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with counting taking place on May 4.
