The businessman’s son told that when the fire broke out, the car was not connected to the charging point.

Times News NetworkIndore: A survivor of a house fire on Thursday rejected suggestions that firefighters were being prevented from entering the three-storey building due to the blaze involving an EV charging point and electronic lock.Saurabh, son of polymer businessman Manoj Puglia, one of the four survivors of the tragedy, said the family’s EV hatchback was not even connected to the charging point when the fire broke out around 3.30 am on Wednesday. “Since the car charger was not connected to a power source, it is unclear how a short circuit could have occurred at the charging point,” he told reporters.Saurabh also rejected the official theory that rescue workers failed to enter the Brajeshwari Annexe building because the electronic lock opening mechanism had become inoperable without power supply. He said the source of the fire could be something “external”, citing a video circulating on social media in which an electric pole outside the building was seen on fire.Puglia, his daughter-in-law Simran and six relatives from Kishanganj in Bihar, including a cancer patient and two children, died in the fire.DCP Amarendra Singh said forensic teams are still analyzing the burnt vehicle and the electrical circuitry of the house to ascertain the cause of the fire. “There have been cases of electric vehicles catching fire when they were not being charged. We are investigating all aspects, including what has been reported by family members, to establish the exact cause of the fire.”CM Mohan Yadav met the survivors and assured them of a scientific investigation. “We will await the detailed investigation report and take appropriate action so that such tragic accidents do not happen again,” he said.
