Gurgaon: Gurgaon Traffic Police’s campaign “Challan Nahi Salaam Milega” has been honored with the SKOCH Silver Medal Award. The said campaign also known as “Drive Right, Shine Bright” was launched by DCP Traffic Rajesh Mohan last year, following which the police honored five traffic heroes who strictly followed traffic rules and never issued a challan; Every month. The DCP received this award at a special function organized at India Habitat Centre, Delhi last week. The objective of this campaign was to encourage road users to follow traffic rules to avoid road accidents. “This initiative represents a dramatic shift from fear-based policing to positive engagement. 31 responsible citizens were publicly honored through official recognition letters. This approach encourages safe driving behavior and demonstrates the power of positive reinforcement in building a safe community”, said DCP Rajesh Mohan. Under this, 825 traffic marshals or community patrollers were also appointed to assist the traffic police in awareness campaigns and to control traffic during peak hours. The campaign also included a transparent fine system through which the police shared challan data on their social media platforms. Police also conducted 732 awareness programs under this campaign.
