New Delhi: Amidst reports that the billionaire Elon Musk Participated in the phone conversation between PM Narendra Modi and president donald trump Last week, the Indian government had said on Saturday that the talks were only between the leaders.The NYT reported late Friday that Musk participated in the phone call made by Trump to Modi, calling it an unusual appearance on a call by a private citizen between two heads of state during a wartime crisis.External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have seen the story. The telephone conversation on March 24 was only between PM Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump. As stated earlier, it provided an opportunity to exchange views on the situation in West Asia.”While the State Department denied that anyone else was involved, the White House did not confirm or deny the report. “President Trump has a very good relationship with PM Modi and this was a fruitful conversation,” White House press secretary Carolyn Leavitt said in a statement to a news agency.The report, citing two unnamed US officials, said it was unclear why Musk was on the call or whether he spoke. “His companies have taken significant investments from sovereign wealth funds in Middle East countries, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Musk has also long wanted a larger business presence in India,” it said.Trump had called Modi to discuss the situation in West Asia, including the need to secure the Strait of Hormuz. According to an Indian readout, Modi had said the safe passage of ships through the strait is vital for global peace, stability and economic well-being.This was their first conversation since early February and came amid Pakistan’s reported efforts to host talks between the US and Iran to end the ongoing military conflict. US Ambassador Sergio Gore had said that the President wanted to brief Modi about developments related to the conflict.
