New Delhi: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi said on Thursday Indian Navy Was just minutes away from launching an attack on Pakistan from the sea during Operation SindoorWhen Pakistan requested to stop kinetic activities. Speaking at the Naval Investiture Ceremony, Admiral Tripathi said, “Operation Sindoor demonstrated exemplary readiness and resolve of the Indian Navy, as our units deployed rapidly and maintained a highly aggressive posture throughout the duration. It is no longer a hidden fact that we were minutes away from attacking Pakistan from the sea, when they requested to stop the kinetic action.”Admiral Tripathi said the Navy’s actions during the operation strengthened national confidence and showcased its capabilities at the highest level.
Referring to the interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “Apart from Operation Sindoor and the relentless operational tempo throughout the year, we were also very proud to demonstrate the breadth and depth of our operational capabilities to the Honorable Prime Minister during a historic 17-hour overnight visit with the Indian Navy off the western seaboard.”Operation Sindoor was launched after the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025, in which 26 people were killed. Terrorist hideouts in Pakistan were targeted and destroyed in the operation, in which several terrorists were killed.
Naval officers honored for Operation Sindoor
The Navy Chief on Wednesday awarded the Yudh Seva Medal to Vice Admiral AN Pramod and Vice Admiral Rahul Vilas Gokhale for their role in Operation Sindoor.Vice Admiral Pramod, DGNO, was recognized for planning and executing India’s response amid tensions with Pakistan. Their deployment in the North Arabian Sea deprived the Pakistan Navy of operational space.

Vice Admiral Gokhale was awarded for helping to restrict Pakistan’s naval movement, ensuring missile readiness and combat deployment of 22 warships within 96 hours.Captain Suraj Rebera, Captain Vikas Garg, Captain Piyush Katiyar, Commander Rajeshwar Sharma, Commander Vivek Kuriakose, Commander Kapil Kumar, Lieutenant Commander Rishabh Purbia and Chief Mechanical Engineer Manoj Kumar were also awarded the Navy Medal (Gallantry) for their role in the operation.
