New Delhi: Former Army Chief General MM Naravane said that he will now write only fiction. The statement came at a book signing event on Friday. Last month, Lok Sabha leader of opposition created ruckus in Parliament over Naravane’s unpublished memoir ‘Four Stars of Destiny’. Rahul Gandhi Used excerpts from a book published in a magazine and accused PM Narendra Modi of “not shouldering responsibility” during the India-China military clash in Ladakh in 2020.He said, “I have always been writing from time to time, not only for military reports but also for various academic journals of the army. I have also written some short stories, one of which was also published in Femina. I am now writing only fiction.”He said, “My book ‘The Cantonment Conspiracy’ was released last year, and I am happy to say that this book is relatively good for a first-time writer who did not know how to write. Writing this book and the journey from a soldier to a storyteller has been an interesting one. So I enjoyed writing it, and I am sure everyone reading it will enjoy reading it.”
During the motion of thanks on the President’s address on February 2, the Lok Sabha witnessed a heated exchange after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi attempted to quote a magazine article containing excerpts from Naravane’s unpublished memoir.Gandhi’s remarks were interrupted by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, who objected to citing material from an inauthentic and unpublished book. Members of the ruling party also opposed the move, which intensified the conflict in the House. The controversy escalated further when opposition MPs moved a no-confidence motion against Om Birla and alleged that Gandhi was not being allowed to speak. However, the proposal later fell by voice vote during the second phase of the budget session of Parliament.
