Opposition questions debate on Left Wing Extremism in Lok Sabha; Flags Jobs crisis, ‘Hindutva extremism’ and tribal concerns. india news
New Delhi: Criticizing the ruling BJP for discussing Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in the Lok Sabha, the Opposition on Monday asked why the Modi government is not discussing issues like the West Asia war, “extremism in the name of Hindutva”, rising unemployment and increasing atrocities against Dalits and weaker sections in Parliament. Several speakers warned that supporting corporates to exploit mineral resources in tribal areas could lead to resentment among local people, which along with exploitation is the root of the Naxalite problem.Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka said the BJP did not lose any member to Maoist violence, just as it did not lose anyone in the freedom struggle. He said Congress governments have fought Naxalites and lost their members in the Jheeram Valley massacre, like leaders of the entire Chhattisgarh party. He alleged that the March 31 deadline appeared to be linked to the interests of some corporates, a point mentioned by several other opposition MPs.
