In a post on Twitter, Sarma strongly rejected all the allegations and accused the Congress of spreading falsehoods.“Pawan Kheda’s press conference today reflects the deep frustration and anxiety within him congress party. As Assam moves decisively towards a historic mandate, such desperate and baseless attacks only highlight their sinking ground.”Denying the allegations, he said, “I categorically reject every allegation made by him. These are malicious, fabricated and politically motivated lies aimed at misleading the people of Assam.”“I and my wife will be filing both criminal and civil defamation cases against Mr. Pawan Kheda within the next 48 hours. He will be held fully accountable for his reckless and defamatory statements,” Sarma wrote. Expressing confidence in the legal process, he said, “I have full faith in the judiciary. Once the truth is established in the court, Mr. Pawan Kheda will have to face the consequences of his actions, and the law will take its due course.”

What did Pawan Kheda say in the press conference?

During his press conference, Kheda made many allegations and raised questions against Sarma and his family. He questioned the issue of multiple passports and suggested possible violations of the law.Kheda also alleged financial ties with shell companies abroad and questioned his standing.“Himanta Biswa Sarma has kept his money in shell companies set up in Wyoming. Why Wyoming? Because there are no taxes here… It is a famous place where people hide their assets.”He further claimed that the information was verified before making it public.“When we got this information we cross-checked it for 2 days and today this information is in front of you.”He said while raising the demand for investigation.

Kheda also questioned the source of the alleged wealth and demanded action. “Himanta should tell how he earned Rs 52,000 crore?”“Based on this information, Himanta should not stay out of jail even for a day, his nomination should be cancelled.”He further alleged that Sarma’s wife Rinki Bhuyan Sarma has business and property connections abroad.“Himant’s wife Rinke Bhuyan Sarma has a company in Wyoming, USA. The member list of this company includes Rinke Bhuyan Sarma, Himanta Biswa Sarma and his son.”

Kheda also raised questions about the alleged properties in Dubai and their disclosure. “The question is why Himanta did not disclose his wife’s Dubai properties in the affidavit?”He concluded by urging officials to take action and sought feedback from the central leadership. “Home Minister Amit Shah please respond – will he set up a SIT to investigate this matter?”. Kheda asked.
