Rain in many parts of Delhi-NCR; IMD says storm and strong winds likely this week

New Delhi: Parts of Delhi-NCR received rain on Wednesday, leading to a significant change in weather conditions along with a drop in temperature. The scenes at Indira Bhawan show continuous rain under cloudy sky, while the scenes at Moolchand Metro station show commuters moving around in light to moderate rain. Rain and strong winds were also recorded in Palam area, indicating widespread weather activity across Delhi.According to news agency PTI, due to high-speed winds in Delhi, there was power failure and disruption in many parts of the capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued advisories, urging residents to stay indoors and avoid weak structures. People were warned to stay away from windows, power poles and overhead power lines while securing loose objects to avoid accidents.Farmers were advised to temporarily stop outdoor work and move livestock to safe areas, while motorists caught in the storm were asked to drive safely and stay inside their vehicles rather than driving through strong winds and flying debris.according to India Meteorological DepartmentLight rain, storm, lightning and strong winds are likely to continue in the city till March 20. Wind speed may range between 20-30 kmph, reaching 40-50 kmph, especially during the afternoon and evening.The change in weather is attributed to the active western disturbance and cyclonic circulation affecting northwest India, which has led to increased storm activity in the region.The rains have led to a drop in temperatures, with the maximum temperature expected to drop from 32-34 degrees Celsius to 26-28 degrees Celsius in the next two days, which will remain below normal for this time of the year. The minimum temperature is likely to remain between 16°C and 20°C.The brief period of rain has provided respite from the early onset of heat and improved the overall weather conditions in the city.The IMD has advised residents to exercise caution and remain alert during the storm, avoid water-logged areas and trees and drive with caution.
