Investigation into his being a supporter of Khalistan
drug trafficking Ring is likely to launch in Canada.
The identity of Singh, who was arrested in connection with the massive meth seizure in Auckland in March 2023, has now been officially revealed by a New Zealand court, and the case files have opened up quite a bit of confusion.
The investigation was initiated after the alleged death of a man after consuming alcohol. Investigators found a 473 ml blue beer can with a picture of a red bear and a maple leaf. Analysis of the contents of the can revealed that it was meth.
Singh (40) was arrested and produced in court, where police said that a part of the shipment being imported by Singh contained liquid meth while the rest contained beer. After his arrest, his family tried hard to suppress his name and Khalistani ties, citing that he would face threats, but recently the Court of Appeal lifted the name suppression in the public interest.
Singh was sentenced to 22 years in prison for multiple drug offences, with a minimum term of 10 years. His associate, Himmatjit Singh Kahlon, was sentenced to 21 years in prison.
