रवि ने ही पीड़िता के पति प्रदीप को वहां कमरा दिलवाया था, जिसके चलते उसका घर में आना-जाना लगा रहता था। एक दिन उस ने प्रदीप की पत्नी को अलमारी में गहने रखते हुए देख लिया. यहीं से उसके मन में लालच पैदा हुआ.
9 मार्च को जब प्रदीप अपनी पत्नी के साथ एक शादी समारोह में गया था तो आरोपी ने मौके का फायदा उठाया. उसने पहले से तैयार डुप्लीकेट चाबी से मेन गेट खोला और फिर कमरे का ताला तोड़कर अंदर घुस गया।
इसके बाद उसने अलमारी में रखे सारे कीमती आभूषण चुराकर पास में ही फेंक दिए ईख के खेत में छुप गया.
सामान बेचने जा रहा था तभी पुलिस ने पकड़ लिया
चोरी के बाद आरोपी कुछ दिनों तक शांत रहा और मौके की तलाश में रहा। जब उसे लगा कि मामला ठंडा हो गया है तो वह चोरी के आभूषण निकालकर बेचने जा रहा था।
लेकिन पुलिस पहले से ही उसकी गतिविधियों पर नजर रख रही थी. जैसे ही वह आभूषण लेकर बाहर आया, पुलिस ने उसे मौके पर ही गिरफ्तार कर लिया और पूरा माल बरामद कर लिया।
