New Delhi: With Nitish Kumar likely to resign as Bihar chief minister after chairing his last cabinet meeting on April 14, the process of becoming Union ministers in the first BJP-led government in Bihar began on Sunday. Shivraj Singh Chauhan Was named the party’s central observer for the election of Bihar Legislative Party leader. There are indications that Samrat Chaudhary is the frontrunner in the race for the post of next Chief Minister. Chouhan said he will be in Patna on April 14 as BJP MLAs will elect their leader, who will later be chosen as the NDA legislature party leader to succeed Nitish. Sources said the swearing-in ceremony on April 15 could be a simple event, which would be attended by a few members. Nitish’s son Nishant is being seen as JDU’s choice for deputy CM as the party wants to preserve its founder’s political legacy and energize its workers. Since BJP is known to keep its cards to itself, there is resentment in the NDA circles over Nitish’s choice. Still, Samrat is seen as the frontrunner thanks to the investments his party has made since joining in 2018.
