Daniel Alejandro Moreno-Gama, 20, of San Francisco, has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged home invasion. OpenAI chief executive Sam AltmanAccording to US law enforcement officials and court records.Police allege that Moreno-Gama threw an incendiary device, described as a Molotov cocktail, at Altman’s residence in the city’s Russian Hill neighborhood in the early hours of the incident. A small fire broke out at the outer gate, but was extinguished before emergency crews arrived, officials said. There is no report of anyone being injured.Following the alleged attack, investigators say the suspect also threatened OpenAI’s headquarters in San Francisco’s Mission Bay area. Police later confirmed that he was arrested outside the offices of OpenAI while allegedly threatening to set the building on fire.The San Francisco Police Department said officers responded to the initial incident shortly before 4 a.m., recovered an incendiary device at the scene, and reviewed surveillance footage showing a man outside the property. Later during the investigation the suspect was identified and taken into custody.Moreno-Gama has been charged with multiple felonies, including attempted murder, arson, criminal threatening and possession of incendiary and destructive devices. Following his arrest, he was booked into the San Francisco County Jail.Authorities have not publicly disclosed the motive behind the alleged attack. However, Sam Altman referenced the incident in a blog post, saying that he had recently seen an “incendiary article” about himself and that it reflected concerns about artificial intelligence (AI).OpenAI has not issued any detailed public statement on the matter other than acknowledging awareness of the reports. Altman, the co-founder of the company behind ChatGPIT, was not injured.Moreno-Gama remains in custody as prosecutors continue their case. The allegations are allegations and have not been proven in court.
