The PM accused the TMC government of allowing illegal activities in the area. Referring to the coal belt of Asansol, he said, “Asansol is a major part of the coal belt, but under TMC rule, the entire area is controlled by a syndicate raj including the coal and sand mafia.”The Prime Minister said the elections are not only about changing the government but also about restoring the industrial strength of the region. “This election is to get rid of mafia rule and only the BJP government can accomplish this,” he said.The PM claimed, “After May 4, the ‘Nirmam Sarkar’ (insensitive government) will go away. The BJP government will solve every problem of this region.”The Prime Minister further said that Hindus in Bengal are being threatened in the name of a particular community. “There was a time when Hindus were threatened with genocide by issuing red posters. Today, TMC is doing exactly the same; once again, Hindus are being intimidated in the name of a specific community. The people of Bengal want their land to be safe, their faith to be safe, their livelihood to be safe, and the future of their children to be safe. And that is why, on April 23, it will be a moment of decision for the future. I assure you: it is the BJP that has secured India’s western borders, and it is the BJP that will secure India’s eastern borders,” he said.Highlighting development plans, he claimed that investment in the once thriving industrial sector has declined and said only a “double engine government” can reverse the situation.The Prime Minister also said the Center has allocated funds for the revival of industries in Asansol, and added that despite “obstacles” from the state government, the BJP has contributed to the development of the area.PM Modi also expressed concern about women’s safety in the state. He said, “Bengal is the land of Shakti worship, but under the present ‘ruthless government’ the condition of Bengal has deteriorated.” Referring to recent incidents, he said, “Incidents like the RG car and the horrific scenes at Sandeshkhali reflect this. TMC has often been seen openly standing in support of those who commit crimes,” he claimed.
