New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday announced that Vikram K Doraiswamy has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the People’s Republic of China. Doraiswami, a 1992 batch Indian Foreign Service officer, currently serves as India’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, he is “expected to assume charge shortly.”“The appointment comes at a time when India and China continue to engage diplomatically on bilateral issues, including border and trade issues.Doraiswami has previously held several key diplomatic responsibilities and is considered an experienced officer in the Foreign Service.
