'For a very important Bill': Parliament to reconvene on April 16; what's on the cards

New Delhi: The budget session of Parliament will resume from April 16 to pass a bill to increase the number of Lok Sabha seats from 543 to 816.The government is considering introducing at least two bills, including constitutional amendments, in the current session of Parliament to implement reservation for women in one-third of the seats in the next Lok Sabha elections and subsequent assembly elections. The move promises to change the country’s political landscape and put an official seal of approval on PM Modi’s much-touted agenda of women empowerment as the campaign for the four state assemblies gathers pace. If the government gets its way, the number of seats in the Lok Sabha will increase by 50% to 816 from the current 543, with an increase of 273 seats set aside for women, ensuring that existing political dynamics and outgoing MPs, the majority of whom are men, will not be set loose due to a new size order. According to this, the majority figure will reach 409.According to news agency PTI, both houses will reconvene for two or three days to consider the proposed law.Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the House will meet again soon to consider a major legislation.Rijiju said, “We have some bills and important issues and we have shared it with the opposition also. We are going to bring a very important bill in the next two-three weeks.”For the first time in five decades, the strength of the Lok Sabha will increase. There will be no impact on the strength of Rajya Sabha and Legislative Councils in the states. At least two bills will be brought, one on delimitation and the other to amend the Constitution, which will require two-thirds support in both houses.Although the ruling NDA does not have the strength to get the bill passed on its own, the government seems keen to get it passed during the budget session ending on April 4. Failing that, he is open to the idea of calling a short session specifically for the women’s quota.Home Minister Amit Shah is leading the effort to garner support for both the bills and held two meetings on Monday, one with regional parties from the non-NDA block, which includes opposition parties and those separate from any alliance (NDA or India block), and the other with allies of the BJP.

From Abbas Kiarostami to Jafar Panahi and Majid Majidi: Five Iranian directors who redefined humanist cinema. international movie news

From Abbas Kiarostami to Jafar Panahi and Majid Majidi: five Iranian directors who redefined humanist cinema

In India, Iranian cinema has a large audience because the cinema of this land is fundamentally humanistic. Moreover, Iranian cinema offers something rare: peace. It relies on the audience to feel, reflect and engage. And perhaps that’s why, thousands of kilometers away, in Indian living rooms and film festivals, these stories continue to find a home. From Kiarostami to Majidi to Panahi, there is something quietly disarming about Iranian cinema. It neither announces itself with ostentation nor chases scale. It keeps circulating in the silences, in the glances, in the delicate conversations of everyday life. Based on emotional density, moral dilemmas and stories where family is both a refuge and a battlefield, these films feel extremely familiar to Indian audiences. They operate in a different language, a different geography, but speak with the same emotional grammar. Born of the sanctions following the 1979 Iranian Revolution, this country’s cinema flourished despite censorship, in the form of allegories intelligently and emotionally expressed by writers. What could not be shown was implied through absence. The result is a body of work that is deeply humanistic, politically conscious, and artistically inventive. To get out of the vicious circle of news of bombings and missiles, let us focus on the five greatest directors of world cinema who are Iranians.

Asghar Farhadi Shelly: Anatomy of a Moral Conflict

If Iranian cinema has an emotional chess master, it is him Asghar Farhadi. His films don’t present villains or heroes, just people… flawed and fragile, caught in moral dilemmas where every choice has a cost. His Oscar winning films, Isolation And the salesmanPlays out like a slow-moving courtroom drama without the courtroom. In IsolationA couple’s divorce turns into a complex web of class tension, religion and truth. In the salesmanA seemingly personal act of violence gives rise to questions of patriarchy, vengeance and dignity. For Indian audiences, Farhadi’s work mirrors the layered storytelling of filmmakers like Satyajit Ray or even modern Hindi indie cinema, where domestic spaces become grounds for larger social struggles. His characters feel like they are people we know, or perhaps, people we are.

Abbas Kiarostami Genre: Moving Poem

The late Kiarostami was not just a filmmaker; He was often described as a philosopher with a camera. His cinema resists any and all easy explanations, inviting the audience to sit with ambiguity. There are no answers he gives, only questions that stay with you long after you’ve watched his film. In Cherry flavorA man is walking through Tehran looking for someone to bury him after planning to kill himself. The premise is solid, but the execution is the kind of emotional roller-coaster that will shake you to your core. In close-ups, he blurs the lines between documentary and fiction, reconstructing a real-life matter of identity and aspiration.

taxi

Jafar Panahi starred in his own film, Taxi

Jafar Panahi Genre: Cinema as Resistance

Few filmmakers present the idea of cinema in a form as powerfully defiant as Panahi. Despite facing sanctions and embargoes from the Iranian government, he continues to make films, often in secret, often with minimal resources. His films, like white balloon And taxiare deceptively simple. In taxiPanahi plays himself as a taxi driver, engaging passengers in conversations that highlight the concerns, contradictions, and suppressed voices of Iranian society. Panahi’s films remind us that storytelling is, at its core, an act of bearing witness to and feeling intensely about social ills – mostly fear.

children of heaven ali and zahra

A scene from Majid Majidi’s ‘Children of Heaven’

Majid Majidi Style: Innocence and the power of short stories

If the heart of Iranian cinema beats, Majidi is perhaps closest to it. His films are gentle, almost spiritual in their simplicity, often told from the perspective of children. In children of heavenA lost pair of shoes becomes the emotional foundation of a story about poverty, dignity and brother-sister love. color of heaven Explores the relationship between a blind boy and his struggling father, weaving themes of faith and acceptance. Majidi’s cinema does not dominate the audience. It progresses slowly, and leaves behind a dull ache that lasts forever.

Mohammed Rasulof Style: The Price of Truth

Rasoulof represents the more overtly political edge of Iranian cinema. His films confront authority, morality and personal responsibility with unflinching clarity. Their Berlin Golden Bear-winner there is no harm It is a harrowing exploration of the death penalty in Iran, told through interconnected stories. Each section examines how ordinary people become participants in systems of power; And what price do they have to pay for this? Rasulof’s work feels both distant and disturbingly close. It asks uncomfortable questions about the cost of conscience.

Indian-origin Mr Thanedar faces massive trolling over birthright citizenship: ‘Your entire lineage should be banned’

भारतीय मूल के श्री थानेदार को जन्मजात नागरिकता पर बड़े पैमाने पर ट्रोलिंग का सामना करना पड़ा: 'आपके पूरे वंश पर प्रतिबंध लगाया जाना चाहिए'

Mr Thanedar was brutally trolled for his comments on birthright citizenship.

repealed Mr Thanedar He was brutally trolled and blamed for the suicide of his first wife after he expressed interest in the Supreme Court hearing on birthright citizenship. Thanedar said the hearing was extremely personal for him because he came to the United States as an immigrant. But he was attacked based on baseless claims and a social media user blamed him for the suicide of his first wife. “As an immigrant myself, today’s arguments over birthright citizenship are deeply personal to me. The 14th Amendment is clear: children of immigrants are guaranteed U.S. citizenship. Despite President Trump’s wishes, he cannot rewrite the Constitution,” Thanedar wrote.

Birthright citizenship says that people born in the US are Americans – regardless of their parents’ legal status. President Donald Trump wants to end it and the Supreme Court is hearing arguments in this regard. Mr. Thanedar did not receive birthright citizenship because he was not born in the United States. He came to America on a student visa but as soon as he expressed interest in the Supreme Court arguments, he was trolled a lot. One wrote, “You married a naturalized citizen to get your green card and then forced that woman to kill herself by giving her an entire bottle of anti-depressants. You then used your legal position to open a biolab in New Jersey, where you tortured and killed innocent animals while defrauding investors.” “You should be denaturalized, deported, and your entire lineage banned from setting foot in America,” the troll wrote.

Who was the first wife of Mr Thanedar?

Mr Thanedar’s first wife was Shamal Thanedar, a neurologist and mother of two, who took her own life in 1996 at the age of 37 by overdosing on antidepressant pills. At that time he was living in St. Louis. At that time his sons were 4 and 8 years old. Mr Thanedar said his wife hid from him that she suffered from depression and he was shocked by her death. In 2024, Thanedar produced and starred in a short film ‘Dear Pra’, which is about Shamal’s suicide. Shamal was also an immigrant from India and there is no evidence that she was a naturalized citizen when she and Thanedar married. Thanedar married Shamal in 1984 and became a naturalized US citizen in 1988. After Shamal’s death, Thanedar married his current wife Shashi in 1999.

German Shepherd vs Pit Bull: Key Differences You Should Really Care About

German Shepherd vs Pit Bull: Key Differences You Should Really Care About

In the debate between German Shepherds and Pit Bulls, the debate focuses more on opinion than fact. These two powerful dogs are constantly compared and contrasted, but the fact is that they were bred for two different reasons. One has been bred for discipline and structure, while the other has been bred for strength and determination. But hasn’t recent research indicated that it is not the breed of the animal but training and ownership that make the main difference? Therefore, it becomes necessary to go beyond the stereotypes and check the factual information provided by veterinarians and kennel clubs.

Difference in temperament between German Shepherd and Pit Bull

The German Shepherd is famous for its controlled and focused temperament. This breed has traditionally been used for herding and hence is obedient and works best in a controlled environment. This is why German Shepherds are often used for police and military work.Pit bulls are a more energetic breed and tend to be determined. This is partly due to his history and background. They have a strong will and are determined. This is often misinterpreted as aggression. However, many pitbulls are friendly and have a human-centered approach.Animal studies have indicated aggression as a breed-specific trait. However, aggression is more a product of training and socialization than genetic makeup. This means that while German Shepherds may be more predictable, Pit Bulls are not an aggressive breed, but are simply misunderstood.

German Shepherd and Pit Bull Training and Intelligence

The German Shepherd is one of the most trainable dog breeds. They learn new commands easily and respond well to routine.Pitbulls are also intelligent dogs, but are a little more independent. This makes them a little difficult to train. They respond best to positive reinforcement rather than control. The difference here is not based on intelligence but on learning. German Shepherds are naturally obedient, but Pitbulls are a bit rebellious.

German Shepherd and Pit Bull Size and Strength

German Shepherds, on the other hand, are larger in size. He also has a lean and athletic body. They are built to run, track and perform physically demanding tasks.Pit bulls, on the other hand, although slightly smaller in size, are more compact and muscular. Their muscular strength is considerable in relation to their size.It is also worth noting that the bite power of both the dogs is almost equal. However, the main difference lies in the fact that the German Shepherd is trained to bite and release, whereas the Pitbull is known to catch.

German Shepherd and Pit Bull: Purpose and Roles

The German Shepherd is an exemplary working dog. Due to its discipline it is often employed in various activities such as law enforcement, rescue and security. The Pit Bull is now primarily a companion animal. Although it has a notorious history, it has been bred for companionship in contrast to its former use. This is why German Shepherds are relatively easy to work with, unlike Pit Bulls, which require individual handling.

Health and Lifespan of Both the German Shepherd and Pit Bull

Pit bulls have a long lifespan, averaging 12-14 years. The lifespan of the German Shepherd is between 7 and 10 years.German Shepherds are more prone to joint problems like hip dysplasia due to their body structure. Pit bulls, on the other hand, are more prone to skin allergies and genetic diseases. Both dogs require proper care and attention, but the Pit Bull has the better advantage in terms of lifespan.

Public perception about German Shepherds and Pit Bulls

Public opinion views pit bulls as more aggressive, which is again fueled by media reports and selected statistical information. However, experts claim that breed alone is not a good indicator of aggression.German Shepherds have also contributed to many serious bite incidents, mostly due to their prevalence in working situations. The truth is: both breeds can be completely safe or dangerous, depending on how they are handled.German Shepherds and Pitbulls are not rivals like people often imagine. They are just different. One is built for discipline and structured work, while the other thrives on strength and flexibility. Choosing among them is less about which one is better and more about what fits your lifestyle and ability to train responsibly.

Raghav has gone to the shore? Market of rumors heats up due to AAP's reshuffle in Rajya Sabha; what went wrong

New Delhi: Internal rift between Raghav Chadha And the AAP high command came out in the open when the party on Thursday appointed Ashok Mittal as deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha in his place. In a letter to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, AAP requested that Chadha not be allotted speaking time from the party’s quota in the Upper House. What led to the decision?According to reports, Chadha was sidelined for alleged indiscipline and not strictly following the party line.Interestingly, Chadha did not make any statement after his recent discharge. Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in a money laundering case related to liquor excise policy. Later, when Kejriwal arrived to address a press conference, he was also absent from the party office.During Kejriwal’s arrest in the liquor policy case ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Chadha avoided making any comments, claiming he was recovering from an eye surgery in the UK.Last week when there was speculation that Chadha might join BJP punjab electionsHowever, AAP leader Sanjay Singh did not give much importance to this possibility. “If you are inside a party, inside a family, internal issues are resolved through discussion. If it reaches that point, we will deal with it,” he said.AAP’s new deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, Ashok Mittal, termed Chadha’s removal as a normal party process and said there was no specific reason behind it.Addressing a press conference, Mittal, Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, said he had no knowledge of rumors that Chadha might join the BJP. He said Chadha would still be given time to speak in the Rajya Sabha:“Everyone in our party gets time to speak, it is a democratic process. In future, Raghav Chadha will also be given time to speak in the Rajya Sabha.”Mittal stressed that AAP is a democratic party and gives responsibilities to its leaders. He said the party will decide on Chadha’s role in the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections.Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party President Virendra Sachdeva said that the removal of MP Raghav Chadha from the post of Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha shows the anarchy of Arvind Kejriwal.Sachdeva said that Chadha has not only been removed from the post of Deputy Leader of the Upper House, but AAP has also requested the Rai Sabha Secretariat not to give him time to speak in the House. The Delhi BJP president said, it is clear that Chadha is paying the price for distancing himself from the anarchic and corrupt leadership of AAP convener Kejriwal. He said first AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal and now his party member and MP Raghav Chadha are apparently facing misbehavior from a “weak” Kejriwal who has no courage to face political opposition, be it from within the party or from rival parties.Raghav Chadha, Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, has been associated with AAP since the beginning. He started his career working with Arvind Kejriwal on the Delhi Lokpal Bill in 2012 and rapidly rose within the party, becoming the national spokesperson and later the youngest Treasurer after AAP’s victory in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections. He contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from South Delhi but lost to Ramesh Bidhuri before winning from Rajendra Nagar in the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections. Chadha later served as the Deputy Chairman of Delhi Jal Board. In 2022, at the age of 33, he became the youngest Rajya Sabha MP and played a key role in AAP’s parliamentary and organizational affairs along with leaders like Manish Sisodia and Bhagwant Mann.In 2023, AAP named him as its leader in Rajya Sabha, replacing Sanjay Singh. Chadha has often raised major public issues in the House.
