Chasing future achievements often leads to a life of waiting and neglect of the present. The article emphasizes on finding joy in the journey, not just the destination. By appreciating small victories and learning from challenges, individuals can experience a more meaningful and fulfilling life rather than constantly postponing happiness.
There is something really calming about this line. It doesn’t yell at you. It doesn’t promote a hustle culture or ask you to chase success as if your life depends on it. Instead, it quietly shifts your attention – from where you’re going to how you’re getting there. And honestly, this is something that most of us forget. We have become accustomed to living for “the next thing.” Next promotion. Next relationship. Next milestone. There will always be times when that happens, I will be happy. But what Tim Cook is saying here is simple: If your happiness is always tied to something distant, you will spend most of your life waiting.
We’re trained to chase the finish line
Think about it. From a young age we are taught to focus on results.Study hard → get good markswork hard → get a good jobsave money → buy a houseContinue → Make It SomedayThere is always a finish line. And yes, goals are important. They give direction. They push you forward. But somewhere along the way we start believing that only the end result matters. Everything else simply becomes a struggle we have to “overcome.”This is where the problem starts.Because life is not just about big wins. It’s made up mostly of short, simple days.If you don’t find joy in them, you are basically wasting most of your life.
Travel is where life really happens
Let’s break it down in the simplest way possible. The “goal” is just a moment.“Journey” is everything beyond that. The job you want? Interviews, learning, failures – that’s the journey. The relationship you dream of? Conversation, growth, understanding – this is the journey.Even something as basic as getting fit – the workouts, the discipline, the days when you don’t feel like showing up – that’s the journey. And here’s the truth: Once you reach a goal, happiness doesn’t last forever. You celebrate, you feel good… and then what? You move on to the next goal.So if you keep putting off happiness until “later,” you are constantly pushing happiness further away.
Why does enjoying the process change everything?
When you start enjoying travelling, things start seeming lighter. You’re not just working – you’re learning. You’re not just struggling – you’re growing. You’re not just waiting – you’re living. This does not mean that everything becomes easy. It just means that everything becomes meaningful.
Quote of the day by Apple CEO Tim Cook (Image source: Wikipedia)
Even the hard days feel different. Because instead of thinking, “Why is this happening to me?” You start thinking, “What is this teaching me?”That change is powerful.
It’s not about being happy all the time
Let’s be real for a second.Enjoying travel doesn’t mean you’ll wake up every day feeling inspired and positive. Life doesn’t work like this. There will be days when you feel tired, frustrated, even defeated. But the idea is not to view those days as “wasted” or “in the way.” They are also part of this process.Development is messed up. Progress is slow. And sometimes traveling seems boring. But if you can find even small moments of joy – like completing a task, learning something new, or just showing up – then you’re already doing it right.
An easy way to understand it
Think of it like a journey.Imagine you are planning a trip and saying, “I will be happy only after reaching the destination.”Sounds weird, right?Because the whole point of traveling is the experience – the sights, the food, the people, the random moments.Life also works like this.If you only care about “getting somewhere,” you miss everything in between.
Social media makes it more difficult
Let’s be honest – it’s hard to maintain this mindset today. We are constantly looking at other people’s “end results” online.Someone got promoted.Someone bought a house.Someone got married.Someone has “made it.”And this creates pressure. Like you’re behind. Like your trip wasn’t good enough. But what you don’t see is their process. Struggles, failures, doubts. So you start comparing your behind-the-scenes footage to someone else’s highlight reel. And that’s a losing game.
How to Really Enjoy Your Trip (Without Overthinking)
You don’t need major life changes. Just small changes:Slow down a little – no need to rush into everythingFocus on small wins – A task accomplished? showed? he mattersStop waiting for “perfect” moments – they rarely comeBe present – even boring moments matterGive yourself credit – you’re doing better than you think
The move comes after several US-based tech giants suspended their services in the country.
It’s not about becoming super-mindful overnight. It’s about being a little more mindful in your everyday life.
The deeper meaning of this quote
What Tim Cook is actually saying is this:Don’t put your happiness on hold.Because if you do, you’ll always be chasing something. And the chase never really ends. But when you learn to enjoy where you are – even if it’s not perfect – you feel more grounded. More peacefully. You stop rushing through life… and start actually living it.There will always be goals. New ones will keep coming. But your journey? This is what is happening right now.In small moments. In effort. The days in between may not seem “big” but they still matter. So don’t wait for some distant finish line to feel happy.Find something – anything – in your day that makes you feel good. Even if it is small.Because at the end of the day, life isn’t about where you end up.It’s about how you lived while you got there.
Archaeologists have unearthed a 5th- or 6th-century church next to a Sasanian fortress in the Gird-e-Kazhav region of Iraqi Kurdistan. This research study was conducted by researchers from Goethe University in Frankfurt and the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg; Their findings provide strong evidence for the existence of religious pluralism during the 5th and 6th centuries AD, a study from Goethe University Frankfurt reports.Based on the proximity to a Zoroastrian structure of a site dedicated to Christian worship, previous historians have suggested that there were differences of opinion between Christians and Zoroastrians during this period. The excavation site yielded three nacelle columns from a church and several pottery fragments bearing Maltese crosses, giving us insight into how different communities co-existed in rural Mesopotamia during the Sasanian period.
A church found next to a Parsi place of worship
In 2015, the archaeological site Gird-î Qazhav was located; It includes a large building complex that has been identified previously. Researchers have found that the stone columns and brick floors match building styles that were used when worship practices developed in early Christianity. The location of the site (which is next to a Sasanian fortress) represents an area where early Christians lived alongside other religions, practitioners of the Persian faith of Zoroastrianism. As noted in a study at Goethe University Frankfurt, this archaeological discovery provides another example of the recent shift in academia from focusing on imperial centers to rural settlements that provided the social and cultural basis for economic prosperity.
Evidence of Christian religious architecture
The research team concluded that the remains of the structure would be identified as a church based on identifiable archaeological features. Excavations have revealed five square pillars made of quarried stone, only partially covered with white plaster; Taken together with an architectural plan that indicates a three-nave pattern, these features suggest strong evidence of early Christian church design from northern Syria and Mesopotamia. Another piece of evidence indicating that religious worship took place at this location was the recovery of a piece of pottery decorated with a Maltese cross. This provides definitive evidence of Christian religious activity at this site during the discovery of the five pillars. The assemblage of material culture identified may indicate that the site served as an active site for Christian worship.
Tracing religious and social developments in Gird-î Qazhav
The study is part of a larger project tracking rural communities on the Shahrizor plain. The researchers aimed to develop a picture of the everyday lives of workers, farmers, and followers outside the imperial capital cities. Both the church and the Sasanian fortress were later followed by an Islamic burial site, reflecting the development of culture and religion throughout the northern Iraq region over thousands of years. Future research will incorporate archaeometry (archaeobotanical and forensic anthropology) to learn about the health, nutrition, and infrastructure of the people who lived there.

India recently celebrated winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, but in typical fashion, cricket has already moved on. It feels very similar to 2024, when the confetti settled, Rohit Sharma bid farewell to his T20I career and Rahul Dravid stepped aside, quietly initiating a reset. Now, it seems history is preparing a sequel, with Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer waiting in the wings like a very confident student in his mid-30s.
Honestly speaking, captaincy is not an issue. Not when Suryakumar becomes the first captain to successfully defend the Men’s T20 World Cup title. That’s a legacy thing. The real plot twist lies elsewhere, right off the bat.
Yes, there was a brilliant inning of 84 against the USA, an innings that reminds you why he is a box-office favorite. But the eight innings after that? Only 158 runs. A quiet stretch, ending in a nil against New Zealand in the final. Not exactly the repetition you’d expect.
Is India already planning a T20I captaincy change? (Reuters photo)
And now comes the interesting thing. A UK tour later this year, with a subplot building quietly in the background. Because this is not just another bilateral series, it may very well decide what happens next. With the Los Angeles Olympics and the 2028 T20 World Cup around the corner, every innings starts to carry a little more weight.
Which brings us to the man waiting in the shadows. Shreyas Iyer. In form, in control, and increasingly ticking the boxes for leadership in the shorter format. If Suryakumar finds his rhythm again, the script remains intact. If not, India already has a ready alternative.
Captain Shreyas kept growing
Shreyas Iyer has not shouted at all to attract attention. He is just silently collecting the results.
Think about it. Took possession of Delhi Capitals for the first time IPL Final in 2020. Then followed an even better performance with Kolkata Knight Riders, winning the title in 2024. After this, he took Punjab Kings to the finals of 2025. And in IPL 2026, That’s got PBKS sitting on top of the table. Different teams, different setups, same result. Iyer leaves things better than he found them.
What really stands out is how calm he remains when things start going wrong. No panic buttons, no over-zealous reactions. Just clear the call. Support a young player here, shuffle the bowlers there, change things in the middle of the game, without any sort of scrum. Their teams reflect this. Organized, confident, and rarely rattles off.
Along with his captaincy talent, Shreyas Iyer has performed equally well with the bat. (Reuters photo)
This is not just about IPL. Back home, he led Mumbai to the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title and didn’t forget his day’s work with the bat. In the Ranji Trophy that season, he scored 480 runs in five matches at an average of 68.57 and an average of 90.22. Not bad for someone who has managed to balance captaincy and expectations.
The selectors have also taken notice. He has been made India’s ODI vice-captain for the Australia tour and has been brought back into the T20 squad against New Zealand. They didn’t find any games there, but the message was clear. He’s back in the conversation.
And here’s the part that really stands out. Iyer has not played any T20 match since Australia’s tour of India in December 2023. Since then, he has scored 1,508 runs in 47 T20 matches at a strike rate of 171.16. No noise. Just numbers, and lots of them.
Captain Shreyas for India?
Shreyas Iyer has built a reputation as a proper player’s captain, And he doesn’t come out of nowhere. Working closely with three-time ODI World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting has clearly made its mark. Their time together at Delhi Capitals, where they reached the final, only strengthened that bond and gave Iyer a front row seat to elite leadership.
Shreyas and Ponting have made a winning captain-coach combo. (Photo: PTI)
That influence shows in how he handles his players. Ask Vijaykumar Vaish, who has been a part of the Punjab Kings setup. The fast bowler did not hold back from talking about Iyer’s leadership, even backing him to lead India in the near future.
“I think he is someone who has always supported his bowlers and players. It doesn’t matter whether you are performing well or not, it is very important for a bowler. He has done exceptionally well in this format and is playing for India. I am sure he will be the Indian captain soon,” Vishak said during a roundtable with India Today.
He said, “He is someone who keeps the atmosphere very light. He talks to all the players in the same way, whether it is Ricky Ponting, me or anyone else. That is one thing which has made us more comfortable. I can go and talk to him anytime. I mean his door is always open. He does not close his door.”
There was a moment last year when Iyer almost added another chapter to his captaincy story. He had a chance to become the first captain to win the IPL with two different teams, but Punjab Kings fell short in the final against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
However, the story doesn’t seem to be over yet in this season. With IPL 2026 approaching the halfway mark, PBKS is still unbeaten under his leadership. It’s early days yet, but if this streak continues and ends with a title, it will be hard to ignore Iyer’s growing case as India’s next T20I captain.
The US military released a video on Monday showing a machine gunner in a helicopter warning a cargo ship to turn back if detected near Iranian ports, as the US military continues a maritime blockade amid escalating tensions with Iran.Footage shared by United States Central Command on“This is United States Warship 115. You are entering a military blockade area. This blockade of Iranian ports will be enforced and will apply to all ships regardless of flag,” the radio warning in the video said.“Any vessel intending to enter or exit an Iranian port will be subject to the right to search and search in accordance with international law. If you attempt to escape [from] Blockade We will force compliance with force. Above.”Centcom said US forces have directed 27 ships to turn away or return to Iranian ports since the blockade of ships entering or exiting Iranian coastal areas began. The military footage comes as maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has once again been disrupted amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran.Shipping in the strategic narrow chokepoint has become increasingly restricted, according to vessel tracking data cited by AFP, with both sides imposing separate blockades that have complicated commercial movement through the Gulf region.Iran briefly announced the reopening of the strategic waterway, but the United States did not ease sanctions on ships passing through Iranian ports. Dozens of ships passed through the strait during the brief opening, before Tehran later warned that any approaching ship would be treated as a target and the route would be closed again.Since then, only a few ships have succeeded in crossing. Maritime tracking firm Kpler said only four ships had passed in either direction since Sunday. Among them was the Iranian-flagged Nova Crest, which is under US sanctions and was seen leaving the Gulf and transiting the Gulf of Oman.US enforcement of the blockade is usually implemented when ships approach Iran’s maritime border with Pakistan. Several ships have reportedly been ordered to divert or turn back, including tankers and container ships tracked in the area.Meanwhile, Iran has also moved to claim control of the strait, with incidents involving ships flagged by different countries increasing tensions in the busy shipping lane. Some ships have reported damage or been forced to divert course amid the disruptions.Tracking data also indicates that hundreds of commercial vessels remain active in the Gulf despite the restrictions, with traffic through one of the world’s most important energy corridors continuing but disrupted. The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) also released footage on Monday showing a maritime operation in which US Marines boarded the Iranian-flagged container ship Touska in the Gulf of Oman. Video shared by CENTCOM on The footage captures the tactical sequence as crews disembark from the aircraft and safely access the ship amid tight surveillance of commercial shipping lanes in the area.Iran’s Hazrat Khatam al-Anbiya military headquarters later confirmed the incident, calling it an attack on an Iranian commercial ship in the Sea of Oman, and Tehran accused the US of “violating the ceasefire and committing piracy” by attacking and firing at the ship, confirming that the ship had been seized. Following the incident, the Iranian military issued a warning of retaliation, saying, “We warn that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will soon respond to this armed robbery of the US military and will retaliate,” further escalating tensions between the two countries, which have been in conflict since February 28 and are currently under a fragile ceasefire.

US Vice President JD Vance is expected to travel to Islamabad on Tuesday morning for high-level talks aimed at ending the ongoing conflict with Iran, as a fragile ceasefire nears its end, according to a report by Axios. The visit comes at a critical juncture, with US President Donald Trump warning that Washington could launch a new bombing campaign targeting Iranian infrastructure if no deal is reached.Although a comprehensive deal appears unlikely within the limited time frame, the US has indicated it may extend the deadline if there are signs of progress.
Amidst internal pressure, talks hinge on Iran’s participation
Behind the scenes, talks faced uncertainty as Tehran delayed confirming its participation. Iranian negotiators were under pressure from the Revolutionary Guards to maintain a revolutionary stance, saying talks could not proceed unless the US lifted its naval blockade. However, mediators including Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey pressed for talks and Iran’s negotiating team finally got approval from the supreme leader to participate in the talks late on Monday.Senior US officials, including Ambassadors Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are also expected to be part of the delegation visiting Islamabad.
The ceasefire clock is ticking, tension remains
The diplomatic pressure comes as both Washington and Tehran have signaled readiness to escalate if talks fail. Iran has accused the US of violating the ceasefire through a blockade of Iranian ports, while Washington has accused it of harassing ships in the Strait of Hormuz.Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused the US of trying to turn the talks into a “surrender table”, saying, “We do not accept negotiations under the shadow of threats”, according to news agency AFP.The ceasefire, which began two weeks ago, is set to expire soon, although Trump has suggested extending it slightly until Wednesday evening. The outcome of the Islamabad talks is being closely watched globally, with the conflict already disrupting oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for about a fifth of the world’s energy supply.
