‘Outright lie’: DHS says US citizen Sunny Naqvi was never detained, allowed to leave within 90 minutes

'Outright lie': DHS says US citizen Sunny Naqvi was never detained, allowed to leave within 90 minutes

The Department of Homeland Security rejected the story of US citizen Sunny Naqvi, who claimed he was detained and released after 43 hours, and said Naqvi was released within 90 minutes of arriving in the United States. DHS said Naqvi was not detained nor transferred to ICE for detention, adding that he was only sent for secondary observation. “The traveler’s claims are absolutely false. Sunny Naqvi arrived at O’Hare at 10:21 a.m. on March 5, 2026. CBP officers referred her to secondary and checked baggage for additional inspection based on law enforcement investigation. Ms. Naqvi was cleared by CBP within 90 minutes of arriving in the United States. Ms. Naqvi was not detained or transferred to ICE for detention, ” DHS said. According to the report based on Naqvi’s sister’s account, Sunny was supposed to travel to India, but the international travel plans fell through. The group of six continued their domestic journey. As soon as they arrived back at the Chicago airport, they were all taken into custody by Sunny’s lawyer due to their “curious travel history”. Naqvi’s family claimed that he was detained at the airport and then sent to Broadview. They claimed that they had lost Naqvi’s location while federal agents kept telling them that Naqvi was not in custody. Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison said the administration has been lying from the beginning as they detain American citizens without due process. All six members of the group are in the US legally. Morrison said Naqvi was kept in custody from Thursday to Saturday. On Saturday morning, as Morrison said, Naqvi drove to a nearby gas station and drove to a Holiday Inn for shelter before being able to contact his sister. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said he had no record of Naqvi being booked, detained or released from jail.

Debate on no-confidence motion: Opposition accuses Om Birla of bias, NDA defends Speaker in Lok Sabha. india news

'Om Birla has mastered the art of switching off microphones of opposition MPs': Explosive Mahua Moitra in Lok Sabha

New Delhi: Decision NDA Strongly defended the Lok Sabha Speaker on Tuesday Om Birla During the debate on a motion seeking his removal, opposition parties accused him of acting under government pressure and failing to conduct the House proceedings impartially. The debate began when opposition members moved a motion to remove Birla from the post of Speaker, accusing him of bias and claiming that he made “baseless” allegations about some women MPs and did not allow opposition leader Rahul Gandhi to speak on important issues.

‘Om Birla has mastered the art of switching off microphones of opposition MPs’: Explosive Mahua Moitra in Lok Sabha

Birla did not attend the proceedings, although the Constitution allows the Speaker to be present and defend himself during such debates. The discussion is expected to end on Wednesday, when Union Home Minister Amit Shah will respond to the proposal.

Opposition accused the speaker of bias

Initiating the debate, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that the opposition has brought the resolution to protect parliamentary democracy. He said the motion was necessary to “save the Constitution” and “the dignity of the House”.“The expectation was that the Asana would be neutral. But research into the uncorrected versions will reveal how many times the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) was interrupted. When the LoP was on his feet, another member was called (to speak),” Gogoi said.Quoting former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s comments, Gogoi said the Speaker is a symbol of the independence and dignity of the House.“Where is the freedom of speech now?” he asked.Gogoi said the opposition members personally have cordial relations with Birla, but he felt compelled to bring the motion.“But it is our responsibility to protect the dignity of the House and save the Constitution. This is to protect people’s faith in democracy,” he said.Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant also questioned the conduct of the speaker.Sawant said, “Please introspect why we had to bring the no-confidence motion. The House cannot function on anyone’s wish. We respect their right. But they should not behave under pressure and compromise on independence.”Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra described it as “divine deed” that she was supporting the motion to remove Birla from the post of Speaker, alleging that he was “wrongfully” expelled from the Lok Sabha in 2023.He said the Speaker has set “less than graceful standards” while presiding over the House.DMK leader TR Baalu called Birla a “gentleman” but criticized what he described as “harsh” action against opposition members and urged him to take corrective steps.

NDA says the speaker acted impartially

Members of the ruling party rejected the allegations and defended Birla’s conduct, arguing that inappropriate behavior led to disciplinary action against opposition MPs.Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the Congress of targeting constitutional institutions since it lost power in 2014.He said that this proposal is an attempt to weaken the authority of the Speaker.Rijiju said Birla remained impartial and gave ample opportunity to the opposition to speak in the House.Quoting former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi, he stressed that the decisions of the Speaker are final and must be respected by all members. The minister claimed that several opposition MPs had privately expressed discomfort over the proposal.According to Rijiju, 50 opposition members told him personally that they were unhappy with the move but were supporting it due to political pressure.During his intervention, Rijiju also criticized Rahul Gandhi’s conduct in Parliament and said that he often does not participate in the proceedings or leaves the House after giving his speech. He said that Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra could be a better leader of the opposition.Responding to Rijiju’s remarks, Priyanka Gandhi said she found it ironic that ruling party members were quoting Nehru.“He said that I was laughing. I wanted to clarify that I was laughing because the person whom he keeps criticizing day and night, Nehru ji, he used a quote from Nehru ji for his argument.”“They have suddenly started respecting Nehruji and he strengthened democracy and gave such a speech,” he said.

NDA allies supported Birla

NDA allies also supported the Speaker and criticized the opposition’s move.TDP MP Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu praised Birla’s way of running the Lok Sabha since 2019 and said parliamentary productivity has increased under his leadership. He said the proposal was brought “not to be successful but to make great headlines”.JDU leader and Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh called this proposal an attempt to put pressure on the Speaker.Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde attacked Rahul Gandhi and said the opposition leader would face obstacles if he promoted an “anti-India” agenda in Parliament. The debate on this proposal is expected to continue in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday also.

England right-back Kyle Walker retires 4 games short of playing 100 international matches

Kyle Walker has retired from his England career, ending a 14-year stint in international football after earning 96 caps for the Three Lions. The 35-year-old right-back announced his retirement on Tuesday March 10, exactly three months before the World Cup.

Walker finished four appearances short of the 100-cap milestone, ending a journey that began with his England debut in 2011 and included five major tournaments.

The right-back’s last appearance for England came in a friendly against Senegal in June. Despite making 27 Premier League appearances for Burnley this season, he was not included in the recent squad for the World Cup qualifiers.

“After representing my country for over a decade, I have decided to retire from international football. Playing for England has always been the greatest honor of my career and something I will always be proud of,” Walker wrote in a post on Instagram.

“Thank you to every teammate, coach, manager, 12th player and everyone who has been a part of the journey behind the scenes. Every roar from the fans has pushed the team forward and I look forward to joining them to support the players at the World Cup.”

“The memories of the England shirt will always be with me.”

Walker was a key figure in England’s defense during that period, which saw the team reach the latter stages of several major tournaments. Former Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur defender endured heartache Finished runner-up at the European Championship twice, in both 2021 and 2024.

However, pressure was increasing on his place in the national team, with Reece James emerging as England’s preferred option at right-back.

England head coach Thomas Tuchel paid tribute to Walker following his decision, describing the veteran defender as one of his country’s greatest servants.

Tuchel said, “Although I only worked with him for a short time, I always knew that he was one of England’s great players who fully embraced the highest honor of representing his country.”

“An international career spanning 14 years and five major tournaments is testament to Kyle’s dedication. He can look back on his time with the Three Lions with great pride.”

Warmonger, expansionist, freedom suppressor: Donald Trump is just like other US presidents – except for one thing

If anyone listens to the commentary donald trump – and there’s so much that banning the word ‘Trump’ would bankrupt WENA outlets – you’d assume he was an anomaly in the system, the sum total of all unbalanced equations, the antithesis of the American way of life. In more recent times, their actions – expansionist tendencies, warmongering, using government agencies to target their opponents, justifying their actions, and taking away basic liberties – have been considered un-American, tantamount to socialism. But Trump is not different from past American presidents, but rather his Jungian composite sketch: expansionist, warmonger, and freedom suppressor.

“This is Zion and we are not afraid!!” Morpheus epic speech scene (The Matrix Reloaded)

What makes Trump a more evolved version is that he refuses to participate in the diplomatic spectacle of pretending that America’s actions are for some greater good rather than self-aggrandizement. Borrowing a phrase from Morpheus’ epic speech in Zion in The Matrix Reloaded, Trump is here not because of the path that is in front of him, but because of the path that is behind him in American history. The only difference from previous prime ministers is that he displays these old royal instincts in the form of pure, unabashed id – an unchecked power not seen in reel or real life. tyler durden.

expansionist

When Trump expressed his desire to annex Greenland or jokingly called Canada the 51st state, commentators clutched their pearls, forgetting the history that expanded the US from 830,000 square miles (the original 13 states) to nearly 3.8 million square miles, increasing its size by nearly 360%.

expansionist

In 1803, Thomas Jefferson doubled the territory by purchasing Louisiana from Napoleonic France. Andrew Jackson expanded this with the Indian Removal Act, displacing five tribes because Americans wanted to get their hands on gold found on Indian lands, displacing 100,000 Native Americans and killing 15,000 indigenous people, a journey so horrific it became known as the Trail of Tears, while scholars justified it by claiming they were ‘Vanishing Indians’ anyway.By the 1840s, Americans had come up with the term ‘Manifest Destiny,’ which sounds like something an Instagram influencer would caption beneath a sunset selfie in 2026, but was actually a 19th-century belief that the United States was divinely appointed to expand its dominance by spreading democracy, capitalism, republicanism, and the American way of life throughout the North American continent from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

manifest Destiny

American Progress (1872) by John Gast is an allegorical representation of the modernization of the New West.

It was used to justify the Mexican–American War under James K. Polk in 1846, resulting in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, in which Mexico lost half its territory and the United States ceded California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and parts of Colorado and Wyoming. The California Gold Rush displaced even more native tribes.Manifest Destiny soon extended beyond the continent with the Spanish–American War, involving Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines, while the overthrow of Queen Liliuokalani in Hawaii – supported by American merchants and American marines – ultimately led to its destruction in 1898. Theodore Roosevelt expanded not through colonists but through strategy, supporting Panama’s rebellion against Colombia so that the United States could build and control the Panama Canal.

How did America capture half the continent?? 🇺🇸🔥 #shorts #usa #history #america #canada #facts #map

The republic that began as thirteen colonies located on the Atlantic coast transformed itself by the beginning of the twentieth century into a continental empire spanning the entire landmass of North America – turning thirteen states into fifty and turning an insecure republic into the preeminent power of the modern world. So, when Trump suddenly expresses a desire to annex Greenland, he is merely demonstrating 250 years of American muscle memory. Trump’s watchword since 2016 has been MAGA, Make America Great Again, and that’s exactly how America became ‘great’.

warrior

The world has become accustomed to American exceptionalism, but even amidst those exceptional exceptionalisms, gun violence remains the strangest hill where all debates end. Maybe it has something to do with the Second Amendment. America, in the popular imagination, has the idea that the nation was born with the gun boom, meaning that no American politician can accept that the world would be a safer place if mentally disturbed people did not have weapons that could help them commit murder.

warrior

This lust for violence is also reflected in the inherent bloodlust that characterizes every American regime, a war-addicted nation. The Warmonger is America’s oldest political symbol, and the American presidency has almost divine powers of vengeance, being the most powerful man in the free world.Over time, thanks to vague wording in the U.S. Constitution (“The executive power shall be vested in the President of the United States”), the President has had unprecedented powers with few checks and balances to launch wars without formal declarations, bomb sovereign countries, assassinate foreign leaders, conduct secret wars, and maintain permanent military bases around the world. This is the war machine that Trump has inherited. The idea that Trump’s actions of electing one head of state (Nicolas Maduro) or killing another (Ayatollah Khamenei) are isolated is to ignore history. America remains the only country to drop a nuclear bomb. Harry Truman joined the Korean War without any formal announcement. Bill Clinton ordered NATO bombing campaigns in Bosnia and Iraq while the White House was beset by scandals. Lyndon Johnson escalated the Vietnam War with some of the most destructive bombing campaigns in history with the US military. Nixon expanded the war into Cambodia and Laos, in which the US dropped more bombs than were used in World War II.

Trump Iran War Address Cold Open – SNL

After the terrorist attack, Ronald Reagan ordered a retaliatory strike in Libya. George W. Bush took this ideal further, invading Iraq with false claims of weapons of mass destruction. Barack Obama refined the US war with drone strikes in Yemen, Pakistan and Somalia.Trump – to put all his pre-election threats aside – followed in the footsteps of his predecessors with Operation Midnight Hammer, which was supposed to destroy Iran’s nuclear program before following it up with Operation Roaring Lion. Most former US presidents used some sort of theory to justify their bloodlust, like saving America from European colonialism or trying to find non-existent weapons of mass destruction, but this regime doesn’t particularly try. Are the attacks on Iran to get rid of its nuclear program? Was this done to facilitate regime change? Was it for the safety of women and children? Was this the end game of the Crusades? Was it for Israel? No one knows, not even Trump.Reading: What is the Trump Doctrine? What he knows is that he’s the best, that America is the best and the way to celebrate any kind of attack is to share a cleverly constructed edit of Iron Man, John Wick, Transformers and Mortal Kombat leitmotifs called “Finish Him.” It seems like the logical endpoint of meme culture: war edited like a Marvel trailer and death edited like a video-game soundtrack.

freedom crusher

And ultimately the snatching of freedom. Americans have long portrayed themselves as global champions of liberty, proudly pointing to the First Amendment – “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or the freedom of the press…” – as the holy grail of their political faith. Americans like to believe they are symbolized by the Statue of Liberty, but freedom is usually the first loss of power.

suppressor of freedom

For the longest time, the country that prides itself on equality did not allow women or black Americans to vote.Abraham Lincoln suspended habeas corpus during the Civil War, allowing citizens to be detained without trial. During World War I, Woodrow Wilson criminalized dissent. Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered the internment of more than 120,000 Japanese-Americans during World War II.The Cold War produced McCarthyism, blacklists, and loyalty oaths that destroyed careers and reputations. After 9/11, George W. Bush created the architecture of the modern security state: the Patriot Act, warrantless surveillance, Guantanamo Bay, and extrajudicial extradition.Reading: How did Obama give birth to Trump?Barack Obama preserved and expanded that system. So when Trump used executive power with little restraint — threatening institutions, testing the limits of federal authority, and treating constitutional norms as barriers rather than guardrails — he wasn’t inventing anything new. He was drawing from the long institutional memory of American democracy, where freedom expands in theory but shrinks whenever power feels threatened.

tyler durden

But perhaps the key to understanding this is that the way Trump behaves depends on where he sits. Trump, a former real estate developer, sees the world as property. Gaza? A premium asset waiting to be redeemed from the war. Greenland is rich in resources that can help the US. Venezuela? Oil that America can use. Shakespeare said that the world is a stage. For Trump, this is prime real estate.

tyler durden

All said and done, to use a Latin phrase, Trump all else is equal. The only thing he’s doing differently is refusing to apologize for it, much like the fictional character Tyler Durden from David Fincher’s Fight Club. The film was intended to critique toxic masculinity and patriarchal capitalism, yet it became a totem of those who celebrated it.Where earlier presidents had wrapped power in the language of democracy, liberty, and human duty, he has abandoned this ritual altogether. Expansionists, warmongers, and freedom-takers were all fanatical ideals that had existed before him. Trump simply plays them without moral attire. But the most disturbing thing is that anyone who has watched Fight Club knows that Tyler Durden never existed. All this was going on in the narrator’s mind. What if everything Trump says and does exists first and foremost in their minds? This would certainly explain logorrhea, stream-of-consciousness speech, vague justifications, and more. In the past, the power of the executive has always been debated but there was a confusion of institutions that could constrain it. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry has a conversation with Dumbledore as he discusses all the things that are going on. And then he asks: “Is it true? Or is it just happening in my mind?” Dumbledore replies: “Of course it’s happening in your mind, but why would that mean it’s not real.”And that’s the problem because what’s happening inside Trump’s mind is painfully real to the rest of us, and with devastating consequences.

Doklam or Galwan? What Rahul Gandhi actually said in Lok Sabha and why it matters

Between repeated adjournments and a Heated debate in Lok Sabha Above Excerpts from former Army Chief General MM NaravaneAccording to his unpublished memoir, the political confrontation boils down to one unresolved question: Was Rahul Gandhi referring to Doklam or Galwan?

What Rahul Gandhi said inside the House was clear. He named it Doklam.

He said the episode he was referring to involved Chinese tanks entering Indian territory and attempting to capture a hill in Doklam, which he described in an excerpt from General Naravane’s memoir quoted in a magazine article.

On that statement the Treasury Bench took sharp objection not only to the parliamentary rules but also to the source. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah objected that an unpublished book could not be cited. Chairman Om Birla upheld the objections and repeatedly directed Gandhi not to read the memoir.

Despite the rulings, Gandhi persisted, arguing that the excerpts had already appeared in a published magazine article and asking why the government was “so uncomfortable” with reading them.

However, a separate debate took hold outside Parliament.

A section of social media users questioned whether Gandhi had said the wrong thing. His argument hinged on deadlines. Manoj Mukund Naravane served as the Army Chief from 2019 to 2022, while the Doklam standoff took place in 2017, two years before Naravane took charge.

In contrast, the article Gandhi cited refers to events in 2020 during the eastern Ladakh crisis following the Galwan Valley conflict. The article describes the advance of Chinese tanks towards Rechin La and Indian positions on the Kailash Range, developments related not to Doklam but to the Galwan-era standoff.

“Rahul Gandhi says Doklam instead of Galwan,” wrote one

The magazine itself has said that its article is taken from Naravane’s memoir and is based on 2020, the year of the Galwan conflict. An excerpt shared online describes a tense night in eastern Ladakh when Chinese armor came closer to Indian positions, forcing urgent military decisions at the highest levels.

The BJP seized on this discrepancy and accused Gandhi of misrepresenting facts and dragging a former army chief into politics. BJP leaders said Naravane has publicly said that China “did not lose even an inch of ground” during the standoff.

Amid the uproar, the House was adjourned for the day, but the parliamentary dispute over procedure formally persisted. However, politically and publicly, the focus shifted elsewhere – whether Rahul Gandhi’s words match the historical record.

But outside Parliament, the discussion continued: In the debate to thank the President, was Rahul Gandhi referring to Doklam, or did he accidentally fall into the Galwan debate?

Another user on Twitter accused Rahul Gandhi of misusing General MM Naravane’s name and questioning the bravery of the Indian Army, saying, “The difference between truth and lies became clear in Parliament.”

While one user said that Rahul Gandhi was attempting to quote from an unpublished and unverified book by former Army chief MM Naravane, he questioned why he did not instead mention videos and interviews that are already in the public domain.

General MM Naravane served as the Army Chief from December 2019 to April 2022, a period marked by several major military and political decisions.

He was at the helm during the clash with Chinese troops in Galwan Valley in June 2020, in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed.
