BJP targets Congress for ‘supporting’ USCIRF report. india news
New Delhi: BJP attacked on tuesday Congress To “support” the USCIRF report recommending restrictions on RSS Raw And said that the opposition parties and Rahul Gandhi are standing against India, against the government and PM Narendra Modi. The BJP rejected the report as ‘baseless’ and said it was based on non-reliable sources, as it cited the response of the Ministry of External Affairs, which has rejected the report. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said there should be no demand for comment or ban on India’s external spy agency RAW by any foreign commission. Patra said, “Although the government has responded strongly, the Congress is speaking against RAW and stands with this commission.”Noting that the opposition party’s official handle had endorsed the report, he said it showed to what extent the party could go against the country “at the behest of Rahul”.Patra said Asif Mohammed, a Pakistani-American, serves as vice president and commissioner at USCIRF, alleging that his influence was behind the criticism of India in the report.“Whenever Rahul travels abroad, he meets such persons and leaves no opportunity to malign India’s image or harm the country’s reputation,” he alleged.
