Iran war fallout: CBSE cancels class 12 board exams in seven Middle East countries
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday canceled the Class 12 board exams for students in several Middle East countries.In a circular, CBSE informed affiliated schools in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE that the examinations will not be conducted.“All Class XII examinations scheduled from 16.03.2026 to 10.04.2026 are cancelled, in case of students of Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE,” the circular said.The board said the decision was taken after reviewing the situation and considering inputs from schools and authorities in the affected countries. “The feasibility of conducting board exams for Class XII was reviewed based on inputs and requests received from schools and authorities in the affected countries,” it said.The examinations which were already postponed were also cancelled. “The examinations which were earlier postponed vide circular dated 01.03.2026, 03.03.2026, 05.03.2026, 07.03.2026 and 09.03.2026 will also be cancelled,” the board said.The board said that the mode of declaration of results for Class XII candidates in these countries will be notified separately in due course.On March 1, CBSE had postponed the Class 10 and 12 board exams scheduled for March 2 in seven countries following a security review. Later, the examinations scheduled for March 5 and March 6 were also postponed until further notice.
