Pakistan Super League 2026: Squad, schedule and everything you need to know

The 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) is scheduled to begin on March 26, with Lahore Qalandars entering as defending champions after winning last season’s title. Shaheen Shah Afridi’s team will once again be one of the teams in the headlines. The tournament, scheduled to take place from March 26 to May 3, will feature eight teams after the expansion and a total of 44 matches.

In the opening match, Qalandars will take on new franchise Hyderabad Kingsmen at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. It’s a fascinating curtain-raiser: a proven title-winning unit against one of the league’s biggest unknowns. Lahore brings continuity, experience and a Championship core, while Hyderabad adds fresh intrigue as one of the newly introduced sides in the expanded competition.

However, PSL 2026 will not look like a normal season. Originally planned at six locations, The tournament is now limited to just two cities -Lahore and Karachi. The PCB confirmed that all matches will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, a major logistical change designed to cut down on travel and simplify operations.

The revised schedule features the first 14 matches in Lahore, followed by a block in Karachi, with the playoffs split between the two cities. The qualifiers have been shifted from Rawalpindi to Karachi, while Lahore will still host the eliminator and final on May 3.

The other big change is that the tournament will start behind closed doors. Citing the ongoing regional crisis and fuel economy measures, the PCB has announced that the initial leg of PSL 11 will be played without spectators.

There is also no inauguration ceremony this year. The traditional curtain raiser ceremony in Lahore has been canceled with little planning. That means PSL 2026 starts off in a much more subdued manner than usual – but with the defending champions in action and a new franchise debuting, the cricket should still provide plenty of spark.
