Former Democratic Lieutenant Governor of Virginia Justin Fairfax shot and killed his wife before taking his own life.
Fairfax County Police responded to a horrific murder suicide in Virginia Thursday morning after former Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax murdered his wife and then killed himself. “It appears to be a domestic dispute involving a complicated or messy divorce,” Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis told reporters outside the home.Fairfax shot his wife several times and then ran to a different part of the house and killed himself with the same gun. Their teenage children were present in the house when the murder and suicide occurred. One of them called 911. Fairfax County Police Department officers were called to a residence on Guinevere Drive in Annandale shortly after midnight, where they found a man and a woman dead inside. This house belonged to Fairfax and his wife Serina. At first, responding officers found the woman unconscious and bleeding. Canine units and a helicopter were then deployed to search the premises. Fairfax was then found dead in a separate part of the house, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Fairfax, a former Democratic lieutenant governor, served under former Governor Ralph Northam and faced public allegations in 2019 from two women who alleged he sexually assaulted them in separate incidents in 2000 and 2004. He denied all allegations at the time and said both encounters were consensual.
