Delhi High Court Said on Thursday, directed that his assets worth Rs 30,000 crore be seized until all doubts are resolved. Justice Jyoti Singh said, “The legitimate suspicious circumstances raised by the plaintiff have to be completely removed by the defendant number one (Priya Kapoor) before the document is accepted as the last will.”He said the plaintiffs have “made out a prima facie case that the property needs to be protected and preserved until the disposal of the suit”.Citing the will, Priya’s claims have been challenged by Sanjay’s children from his previous marriage to actor Karisma Kapoor.The judge said, if the property is not preserved and Priya ultimately fails to prove the validity of the will, Sanjay and Karisma’s children Samaira and Kiaan, besides their mother Rani Kapoor, will be deprived of their legitimate share of the property.The interim order freezes the deceased’s equity shareholding in three Indian companies and prohibits the disposal of his personal effects, including artworks.Priya is barred from withdrawing money from her late husband’s provident fund or touching the funds in his Indian bank accounts, unless the withdrawal is to meet Sanjay’s obligations related to his divorce from Karishma. The court also barred him from operating foreign bank accounts and cryptocurrency assets.This order is not binding on Sanjay’s immovable foreign properties. Priya’s legal team had argued that these were beyond the scope of the HC on jurisdictional grounds.Sanjay died on July 12 last year after falling during a polo match in England. He reportedly suffered cardiac arrest after eating a live bee.
