Center hikes commercial LPG prices by Rs 993 amid global energy crisis

New Delhi: The Center on Friday increased the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder by Rs 993 across the country, news agency ANI quoted sources as saying. There has been no change in the prices of domestic cylinders. Now the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder in Delhi will be Rs 3,071.50.The price rise comes amid broader discussion over India’s energy supply situation, particularly as tensions in West Asia have raised concerns about potential disruptions to global oil routes.Indian Oil Corporation said retail prices of petrol, diesel and domestic LPG (14.2 kg cylinder) remained unchanged, leaving domestic consumers completely untouched by the recent rise in international fuel prices.“No change in domestic LPG (14.2 kg) prices for 33 crore domestic LPG consumers. No change in ATF prices for domestic airlines (scheduled operations),” the IOC said.“Overall, prices of about 80% of petroleum products have seen no change, ensuring stability for most consumers. Prices of bulk and commercial LPG cylinders (less than 1% of total consumption) have been revised upward. Prices of bulk diesel and ATF for international airline operations have been adjusted upward. Also, prices of about 4% of petroleum products have seen a decline, reflecting the dynamic nature of global price movements.” It said these measures reflect the calibrated and balanced approach adopted by OMCs under the guidance of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to keep pace with global market trends while ensuring the safety and economic stability of domestic consumers. This is a developing story.
