“Some people ask about the state of health of His Highness the Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei. This is a ploy used by the enemy, who wants to say, ‘Why is he not present? Why does he not send an audio or video message?’ He was quoted as saying by Fars News Agency.‘Why don’t the people who have come to meet him come forward and speak?’ “They want to use these questions to force us to respond, so they can achieve their goals.”Qomi also confirmed that Mojtaba Khamenei was in the building that was bombed, but was ultimately rescued. He said, “He was in the same building that was bombed, where other people were martyred. A few minutes before the explosion, by God’s will he had gone into the courtyard. God wanted him to be protected.”According to the Fars News Agency report, Qaumi said, “At present, he is completely healthy and is actively managing the affairs. He oversees matters related to negotiations and field operations with his direct supervision. Recently, he also gave special instructions to the negotiating team on what actions to take in different situations. He has full command over the situation.”Comey said that despite his injuries, Iranian officials are now focused on protecting the supreme leader’s life.“At the moment, the most important issue for us is to help preserve the life of their great leader, who is currently the testimony of God on earth. And I assure you that despite the injuries he suffered there, God Almighty preserved him as a treasure for the Shias,” he said.It comes as multiple US media outlets reported that Khamenei is facing serious medical challenges after surviving the bomb attack, raising questions about his ability to maintain complete control during the war in the country and delicate ceasefire talks.Khamenei has undergone surgery on his hand, suffered severe burns on his face and is awaiting a prosthetic leg following injuries sustained in the attack, The New York Times reports.Although he is mentally capable of taking decisions, his physical condition significantly limits his direct participation. The New York Times previously reported that Mojtaba Khamenei has largely remained out of public view since the February 28 airstrike on the compound of former supreme leader Ali Khamenei, where he lived. His wife and son also died in this attack.
