Now a serious legal battle has started and it is bringing big names into the headlines. Brian Harpole, who once handled Charlie Kirk’s security, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Candace Owens. The case is about claims made by Owens after the murder of Kirk. According to the complaint, he accused Harpole of being linked to the incident through his podcast and social media posts. The lawsuit was shared publicly on X by Harpole’s attorney Matt Sarelson. It clearly states that Harpole and his company had no role in the murder. It also states that he had no prior knowledge and did not commit any kind of negligence. Nevertheless, Owens continued to speak out about a possible conspiracy, which is now the center of this legal dispute.

Brian Harpole says Candace Owens spread false claims about Charlie Kirk case, but records show otherwise

The complaint explains how things started. Shortly after Charlie Kirk’s death, Owens began sharing theories online. He suggested that people close to him may have betrayed him. He also talked about a possible government cover-up. Over time, those claims became more direct. Harpole says Owens started pointing at him.On the December 9, 2025 podcast episode, Owens told his audience, “Well, what I’m going to tell you guys today is going to positively blow your minds.” She said she had received a “credible” tip from someone she later identified as Mitch Snow. This person claimed to have seen Harpole at a meeting with military officials the day before the assassination. But the lawsuit strongly refutes this. It states that Harpole was in Dallas, Texas at the time. His travel records support this. It also states that he never visited Fort Huachuca. Despite this, Owens continued repeating the claim. He said the tip was “very credible”, but did not give a reason. The situation became more tense when Owens went straight to Harpole. He asked for a personal conversation with him. When he didn’t respond, she talked about his silence on her podcast. He suggested that it looked suspicious. The lawsuit says this made things worse and further damaged his reputation. One key detail stands out. Owens later posted on X that he had already seen Harpole’s flight records. This is important because it shows that she may have known that he was not at that meeting. Yet she continued to speak about the claim. Harpole’s legal team says this shows “reckless disregard for the truth”, a core part of defamation law. Now, the case involves six legal matters and damages worth lakhs are sought. A jury trial has been requested. Owens tried to walk back some of the claims on his show and suggested that his source may have been mistaken. For now, the court will have to determine what exactly happened behind these claims.
