The ocean is called unknown. This is why it is used by marine life as well as naval systems, yet scientists do not fully understand how marine life takes advantage of it so precisely.

There are “plumes” of methane that rise like explosions under water

Suddenly large amounts of methane gas starts leaking in some areas of the seabed.The eruption creates columns of plumes that rise through the water column like successive explosions. Oceanographic research indicates that these releases have the potential to alter ecosystems and even water chemistry in the area.Other researchers are working on the possibility that such plumes might be associated with long-term climate processes.

The seabed “breathes” hydrothermal vent

Hydrothermal vents are not the only fixed features.It has been found that some holes pulsate and emit shocks of mineral-rich fluid in cycles. These vents sustain entire ecosystems that cannot exist without sunlight, but use chemical energy.The notion that life could fully develop without sunlight was unimaginable.

Areas in the ocean with low oxygen are generally considered habitable.However, it turns out that there are ways in which some of these areas can temporarily regenerate as variations in oxygen levels cause marine life to reappear for short periods of time. These changes can occur rapidly and are not necessarily predictable.

The ocean is capable of creating waves that do not act like waves

Rogue waves are not necessarily big waves.They are very unpredictable and most often occur suddenly in completely calm water and can be more than twice as high as the surrounding waves. Their existence has been proven from satellite data but they are almost impossible to predict.

There are structures inside the water that look almost artificial

The patterns of some geological formations on the ocean floor are similar to man-made structures.Although they are natural and formed by volcanic or sedimentary processes, their symmetry and scale have given rise to scientific debate regarding their formation.Not all areas of the ocean have been observed at all.Despite advances in technologies, much of the deep ocean has never been directly explored.Remote sensing and partial mapping allow scientists to do the work, yet, much remains undiscovered. New discoveries are still being made in areas that have never been explored.It is not that the ocean hides things.It acts in a way that questions our ideas of normalcy.And the deeper we delve into it, the more it becomes clear that we’re discovering not only new places, but entirely new ways of nature working.
