In the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election for Entally (163), Sandipan Saha of All India Trinamool Congress won by 94,427 votes, defeating Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Dr. Priyanka Tibrewal got 60,421 votes. TMC won the constituency by a margin of 34,006 votes. CPI(M)’s Abdul Rauf finished third with 4,904 votes, while Congress and other independent candidates were far behind. 692 votes were recorded in NOTA.Finally, constituency number 163, a purely urban seat in Kolkata district, is part of the Kolkata North Lok Sabha constituency. In 2026, TMC has nominated Sandipan Saha, while BJP has fielded lawyer and party leader Priyanka Tibrewal, who had contested the Bhawanipur bypoll against Mamata Banerjee in 2021.In 2021, sitting TMC MLA Swarn Kamal Saha retained the seat, with TMC getting nearly 65 per cent of valid votes against BJP’s 28 per cent. In 2016, Saha again won from Entally, which he has held continuously since 2011, making him one of the most reliably strong TMC MLAs in Kolkata North. The voting percentage in this constituency in assembly elections is usually around sixty.Entally is a historic area of Kolkata, associated with the city’s old market culture and significant Muslim and working-class population. Tibrewal’s nomination by the BJP brings in a combative and well-known rival to what is otherwise a relatively safe TMC seat.
