Kendrapada: : Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Prashant Pradhan of Rajkanika police station in Kendrapara district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a woman complainant for submitting a favorable report in a land dispute case filed before the competent court, in which he was the investigating officer.Complainant Lilina Barik of Mangalpur village had joint property with the opponent. But the opposite party was starting construction work on the joint land property without the consent of the complainant. After this the complainant filed a case in the competent court to stop the construction. The competent authority had directed the IIC of Rajkanika police station to submit the report within three days and the IIC had tasked the head to investigate the case and submit the report within the stipulated date.Based on the court order, complainant Lilina Barik approached ASI to submit the report. But, Pradhan asked for bribe from him. Worried, he contacted vigilance officials.All the money was confiscated from Pradhan in the presence of witnesses. After the trap, a simultaneous search was conducted at Pradhan’s residential house in village Deulaput and other places.
