New parents with one- or two-year-old children feel that the first film of their life should be Raja Shivaji,” he told ANI.He said that the audience is sharing their reactions online after watching the film. “Everyone feels something after going inside. After coming out, they make a video and post it, asking others to watch this film,” he said.
‘Children should look beyond textbooks’
Ritesh said that organic word-of-mouth is the most beneficial phase for any filmmaker.He said, “I think this is the moment when the audience accepts a film. This feeling is very good for the producers because when the audience accepts a film, they themselves start promoting it.”He also stressed the importance of presenting history on the big screen. He said, “We are limited to a few pages of history. When a story is shown on the big screen, children understand that there is more to it than what is in the textbooks. It is important to watch this film to know all this.”
Strong opening at the box office
Raja Shivaji made a strong start at the box office, collecting Rs 23.90 crore in the first two days. According to trade, the film recorded the biggest opening day for a Marathi film, earning Rs 12.40 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 11.50 crore on Saturday. The film has so far earned a total of Rs 52 crore in six days of its release. The Marathi version is leading in performance, while the Hindi version is expected to grow further through word-of-mouth. The historical epic stars Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Bhagyashree and Genelia Deshmukh along with Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi and Amol Gupte in lead roles.
