Chennai Super Kings are back on track in the IPL, with their reliable opener Sanju Samson finding form at the right time and the team finding momentum. Samson has scored two centuries so far this season and scored 402 runs in 10 innings. In their yesterday’s match against Delhi Capitals, he scored unbeaten 87 off 52 balls to help CSK win by 8 wickets and won the Player of the Match award. He also created history and became the first batsman to be a part of more than two hundred partnerships against Delhi Capitals in a single edition of the tournament.Chennai Super Kings kept their playoff hopes alive in IPL 2026 with an impressive eight-wicket win over Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 5. After restricting DC to 155/7 on a sluggish surface, CSK chased down the target with ease in just 17.3 overs. Capitals struggled throughout their innings despite late resistance from Samir Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs to be reduced to 69/5 following a middle-order collapse. CSK’s disciplined bowling attack led by Akeal Hosein and Noor Ahmed never allowed DC to build momentum. In reply, Sanju Samson scored an unbeaten 87 off 52 balls and chased the target with authority. Young Kartik Sharma provided excellent support and the duo stitched an unbeaten century partnership of 114 runs to give CSK a comfortable win with 15 balls to spare. The defeat took Delhi closer to elimination, while CSK came back in the race for the playoffs after finishing 5th after a strong performance at the end of the season. This was Sanju Samson’s second 100-plus partnership of the season which came against the same team Delhi Capitals. This was the fifth 100-run partnership for Chennai Super Kings against Delhi Capitals, but Sanju Samson became the first batsman to be involved in two century partnerships against DC in the same IPL season. Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad holds the record for the most total 100-run partnerships against Delhi, with three such partnerships in different seasons: 2021, 2022 and 2023.
