Bettiah: At least 10 school children and a teacher were injured when a private school van overturned after a tire burst in West Champaran district on Thursday. The accident happened near Bahuari turn near Divliya village of Ramnagar police station area.According to local residents, the van was going to school when one of its tires suddenly burst. The driver lost control of the vehicle, allegedly due to high speed driving, causing it to overturn on the roadside. He claimed that the van was overloaded and had more children than the permitted capacity, which could have increased the impact of the accident.Locals rushed to save the injured victims and admitted them to Ramnagar Community Health Center (CHC), where doctors said that several children had suffered head injuries, while the teacher was in critical condition.CHC medical officer Dr Rajesh Kumar said around 10 injured people, mostly children including a female teacher, were brought to the hospital. “The teacher is in critical condition and several children have suffered serious head injuries. After first aid, all were referred to GMCH Bettiah for advanced care including CT scan,” he said.Ramnagar SHO Deepak Kumar said, “A police team reached the spot as soon as the information was received. Prima facie, the vehicle went out of control and overturned. There are signs of overloading. The matter is being investigated.”
