Educational consultancy operator Shubham Khairnar, suspended junior college teacher Manisha Mandhare, beauty parlor owner Manisha Waghmare and a Latur-based pediatrician moved into the Center on Thursday as the CBI widened the scope of its NEET-UG 2026 paper leak probe by pursuing money trails, digital footprints and a growing list of suspicious beneficiaries. The CBI brought Khairnar to Pune for questioning, while Mandhare and Waghmare faced fresh questioning for their alleged role in leaking and circulating the question paper ahead of the medical entrance exam on May 3. National Testing Agency Told a parliamentary panel that it was of the view that the papers were not compromised through its systems, but also said that the CBI would present a conclusive finding. Over 22 lakh students had written NEET-UG, which was canceled by NTA on May 12 after allegations of widespread malpractices and paper leaks.CBI is investigating the role of pediatrician who leaked children’s paper. The CBI is also probing the role of a pediatrician from Latur, who is suspected of purchasing the leaked paper for his child through Prahlad Vitthalrao Kulkarni, a retired chemistry lecturer from Latur, whom investigators have said was the source of the leak. “We are interrogating him to establish his involvement,” a CBI official said. Investigators suspect that many parents, including physicians, had paid huge sums of money in advance to access the question paper. Several families have been interrogated in different districts, while some suspects are under surveillance. Khairnar operates an educational consultancy service to guide candidates preparing for MBBS, BDS, BHMS and other medical entrance examinations. The CBI is probing his links with an accused from Pune arrested earlier and whether he had acted as a middleman between the candidates and the leak network. Mandhare’s neighbor Waghmare, who is associated with Modern College, Pune and is associated with the NTA, is being questioned about how the leaked papers were obtained, circulated and delivered to the candidates. Sources said the CBI is focusing on financial transactions, digital communication records and the chain of intermediaries.
