New Delhi: A major power supply disruption occurred in Gurugram on Thursday after a fire broke out in the main transformer of a 220 KVA power station in Sector-72, disrupting power supply in many parts of the city. “There was a power failure in Gurugram after a fire broke out in the main transformer of the 220 KVA power station in Sector-72, leading to power disruption in many areas of the city,” said Sandeep Chugh, PRO, South Haryana Electricity Distribution Corporation (DHBVN), Gurugram. According to officials, seven power substations were affected, causing power failure in Sectors 15, 38, 44, 46, 52, 56 and Maruti 66 KVA power house. Areas from Sector 38 to 57 including Sector 15 Part-1, Part-2 and Sector 18 remained without electricity. The disruption also affected Rapid Metro services, which remained suspended for more than an hour. Thousands of passengers use the metro network every day.More details are awaited.
