New Delhi: After several days of scorching heat, light rain and cloudy sky in some parts of Delhi-NCR on Saturday morning brought much relief to the residents.Light rain occurred in many areas of the national capital, while neighboring Noida also received rain.Gray clouds covered the sky in Ghaziabad and cool winds provided relief from the scorching heat.After facing scorching heat in the city for the last few days, there has been a significant drop in the temperature due to brief rain and cloudy sky.However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an orange alert for heat wave conditions in parts of Delhi from Saturday till May 28.According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature is expected to be between 43 to 45 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 44 to 46 degrees Celsius from Sunday till May 28.The minimum temperature in Delhi on Friday was recorded at 29.3 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees above normal. However, the city does not meet the criteria for a “hot night”, which the IMD declares when the maximum temperature exceeds 40 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature remains at least 4.5 degrees above normal.On Thursday, Delhi experienced the first hot night of the season as the minimum temperature rose to 31.9 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal. It was the hottest May night in the city since May 27, 2012, when the minimum temperature reached 34.2 degrees Celsius.IMD has predicted that the minimum temperature is likely to be between 27 to 29 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 29 to 31 degrees Celsius on Monday.
