Srinagar: An infiltrator from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was caught crossing the LoC in North Kashmir’s Uri sector, the Army said on Sunday despite unconfirmed reports and a social media video suggesting that the infiltrator was having an affair with a local woman.Sources said the man has been identified as Zeeshan Ahmed Mir, 22, a resident of Penkadi village in Muzaffarabad district of PoK. He was caught late on Saturday night when he entered from Haji Peer Range in Silikote area of Uri. Local authorities later detained Iram Bano, suspecting that she was the woman Mir wanted to meet. She is a resident of Tilwari village near LOC.Soon after, a video went viral on social media, purportedly showing the couple revealing their identities while answering questions from an invisible man, believed to be a security officer.A police officer, requesting anonymity, confirmed that it is a love case, involving two families on both sides of the border and the couple has been communicating with each other through social media. The officer said Mir’s family was originally from Uri but had moved to PoK decades ago.According to the Army, the soldiers maintained composure while challenging Mir and captured him “surgically”. “The infiltrator was handed over to Jammu and Kashmir Police for further legal proceedings,” the Army said in a statement.
