Flex-fuel vehicles practical solution to reduce crude oil imports: Hardeep Singh Puri india news
New Delhi: Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri Said on Wednesday that flex-fuel vehicles provide a practical way for India to reduce crude oil imports. He said if even 1% of annual petrol vehicle sales shifted to the technology, it would generate demand for four crore liters of ethanol and save Rs 195 crore in foreign exchange every year. Puri also said that this will reduce crude oil imports by about 0.3 lakh metric tonnes and reduce CO2 emissions by about 0.9 lakh metric tonnes.“About Rs 160 crore will go directly to our farmers instead of having to go out of the country to import oil,” Puri said, adding that the impact will be significant as flex-fuel technology scales in India’s two-wheeler ecosystem.Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that as the world’s largest two-wheeler market, India is well placed to lead the shift towards flex-fuel mobility and this will reduce emissions by 77%. news network
