Chennai: DMK Party spokesperson TKS Elangovan said on Thursday that it is no longer a part of the India Bloc. He made this statement to ANI hours after the DMK headquarters issued a press statement saying that the party will not participate in the alliance meeting to be held in Delhi on June 8.After this the decision came CongressA long-time DMK ally, broke his ties with the Dravidian party to join the TVK-led government in Tamil Nadu. “DMK workers were upset with Congress betraying the party after the assembly elections. To respect their sentiments, DMK will not participate in the India Block meeting. In short, DMK will not participate in a meeting in which Congress participates,” it said in a statement.DMK officials said, however, that its MPs would support other parties in the alliance when they raise issues affecting common interest. Earlier, there were rumors that DMK may not be invited for the meeting in Delhi as it was uncertain whether it was still in the block or not. Got a party invitation.Meanwhile, PTI reported that the Lok Sabha Secretariat has given approval to seat DMK MPs away from Congress members. The move came after DMK’s Kanimozhi Karunanidhi wrote to Speaker Om Birla requesting a change in the seating arrangement in view of the changed political circumstances. New seats have not been allotted to DMK MPs yet.The Congress, which contested 28 seats and won five as part of the DMK-led alliance, extended support to the C Joseph Vijay-led government in return for two ministerial berths. DMK officials called this action a “backstabbing” and a “betrayal”. The alliance lost the election and TVK received support from Congress, VCK, IUML, CPI and CPM to win the trust vote with 108 seats. VCK and IUML have also joined the government with one minister each.
