New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah On Tuesday, the Land Port Management System (LPMS) will be launched, a state-of-the-art platform that will enable end-to-end digital workflow for cargo processing and passenger movement at all land ports, similar to the systems at airports and seaports, and enable interoperable, efficient and transparent border management.The LPMS is being unveiled amid the Narendra Modi government’s increased focus on ‘smart and secure’ borders, which uses modern technology and equipment for security and efficient border management. It is designed to integrate operations at land ports into a unified system, enabling the secure, real-time exchange of logistics and regulatory information. As a neutral and open platform, LPMS will facilitate seamless coordination between various stakeholders including government agencies and private operators, thereby reducing delays and increasing operational efficiency.“This initiative underlines the Modi government’s commitment to enhance efficiency, transparency and security in cross-border trade and passenger movement through smart border management, technology-driven solutions,” the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said in a statement on Sunday.On this occasion, Shah will also inaugurate newly developed stakeholder accommodation facilities at Dauki (Meghalaya) and Srimantpur (Tripura) land ports, which will further strengthen the infrastructure support for border security personnel and other valued stakeholders.The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), a statutory body under the Department of Border Management, Ministry of Home Affairs, is responsible for the development and management of land ports to facilitate trade, connectivity and regional cooperation. LPAI operates 15 land ports on India’s international borders.
