vijayawada: : Penamaluru MLA Bode Prasad alleged that he received threatening calls from an unidentified person claiming to be Malapati Bhaskar Reddy.According to the complaint lodged with the police, the caller, using an international phone number, allegedly threatened the MLA and his family of dire consequences. The caller reportedly told Bode Prasad that he would not be allowed to move around safely and threatened to kill him using abusive language.The incident has raised concerns, especially because Malapati Bhaskar Reddy was earlier arrested by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, was arrested for posting objectionable and derogatory content on social media targeting several prominent leaders, including minister Nara Lokesh and former Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana.The MLA told the police that after his first arrest, objectionable posts kept coming against him. Facebook The account is reportedly linked to Bhaskar Reddy. He further alleged that the latest threatening call was part of a sustained campaign of intimidation.Taking the matter seriously, Bode Prasad personally visited Penamaluru police station and lodged a formal complaint. He urged the police to identify the caller and initiate strict legal action against those responsible for issuing the threat.Police have started investigating the complaint including details of the phone number used for the call. An investigation is underway to verify the allegations, trace the source of the threats and determine whether further action is required under relevant provisions of law.
