Kendrapada: A 24-year-old youth was arrested on Sunday for raping a 17-year-old girl multiple times on the pretext of marriage in Jajpur district. The victim lodged an FIR against the accused on Saturday, alleging that he had sexually assaulted her at a hotel in Puri for the past four days after promising to marry her before going back on his promise.Investigating officer Ashish Kumar Sahu said that acting on the FIR, the police started investigation and arrested the accused under various sections of the BNS and Section 6 of the POCSO Act. The accused was presented in Jajpur court on Sunday. The court rejected his bail application and sent him to jail custody.
