New Delhi: One terrorist killed in an overnight encounter with security forces Jammu and KashmirGanderbal district of, Army Said on Wednesday.Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Arhama area of the district on Tuesday night after receiving information about suspicious activity, news agency PTI reported.“Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint search operation was launched by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Arhama general area of Ganderbal,” the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said in a post on Twitter.According to the army, alert soldiers noticed suspicious activity during the operation. “When challenged, the terrorists opened fire and our troops retaliated,” it said.The army said the cordon was strategically reorganized amid intermittent firing and the troops responded in a well-coordinated manner, resulting in the killing of one terrorist. Officials said that the anti-terrorism operation is still going on in the area.
