New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s convoy was allegedly attacked in Wandoor, Kerala on Friday. One of the five accused has been arrested.Five members of the gang attacked Tharoor’s gunman and driver at Chelithode near Tiruvali in Vandoor at around 7.30 pm.The incident occurred on a road at Chelithode bridge when two vehicles blocked Tharoor’s vehicle. When the gunman attempted to remove the barricade, he and the driver were reportedly attacked.
According to the police, the road was narrow and Tharoor’s gunman had asked the vehicle ahead to move faster to ensure easy passage for the MP’s convoy.Police said one accused has been taken into custody, while the rest have been identified and will be nabbed soon.The Congress MP was going to join the election campaign of Congress leader AP Anilkumar.Tharoor said on his social media on Saturday that he and his security guard were fine. The Congress MP said, “Really touched by all the messages and calls expressing concern about the untoward incident when my security guard was attacked last night. He is fine and I am untouched. Thanks to all the friends and well-wishers. We worked without any fear yesterday and conducted two more programs as planned. And our ongoing program will remain unaffected.”
