IPL 2026, GT vs RR: Shubman Gill misses Gujarat Titans clash against Rajasthan Royals due to injury concern
Shubman Gill missed Gujarat Titans’ IPL 2026 match against Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, April 4 due to muscle spasm, leaving the Titans facing an early injury concern. Stand-in captain Rashid Khan confirmed this at the time of the toss and later explained about Gill’s absence.
Under Rashid, 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar came into the playing eleven as a replacement for Kushagra Gill.
“Gill has a little muscle cramp, hopefully he’ll be back soon. KK (Kumar Kushagra) is playing his first game and we’re looking forward to seeing him play,” Rashid said.
In 2024, Kushagra appeared in four matches for Delhi Capitals, but had limited opportunities. Gujarat Titans bought him for Rs 65 lakh IPL 2026 Mini-Auction. Kushagra has scored 676 runs in 30 T20 innings at an average of 28.16 and a strike rate of 145.68, including five fifties, with his highest score being 86 not out.
