Nishant Kumarson of Nitish KumarThere has been fresh political stir in the state after the veteran leader went to Rajya Sabha as the “future Chief Minister of Bihar”.The posters put up early in the morning by “Nitish servants” urged Nishant Kumar to enter active politics, described him as a “young leader” and called for him to “come out of the shadows”. The posters read, “We neither want bulldozers nor riots in Bihar. We want young public servants… now is the time for them to come out of the shadows.”
Although there is speculation that Nishant Kumar may take up the role of Deputy Chief Minister, no official announcement has been made yet.
Political vacuum and changing power dynamics
Nitish Kumar’s entry into Rajya Sabha marks a significant change in the political scenario of Bihar. He was sworn in as an MP on 10 April, fulfilling his long-held goal of serving in every legislative house of India. He also resigned from the Bihar Legislative Council, paving the way for a new leadership structure in the state.The move is seen as handing over more control of the state government to the BJP within the NDA alliance, indicating a structural shift ahead of the upcoming political contests.According to news agency ANI, reacting to the poster campaign, Congress leader Akhilesh Prasad Singh dismissed the speculation, saying, “One does not become a chief minister by putting up posters… Now he is gone, who is left to play in his party.”
JD(U) says Nitish will remain the guiding force
Despite stepping down from the chief minister’s post, JD(U) leaders have said Nitish Kumar will continue to play a central role in the governance of Bihar. Party working president Sanjay Kumar Jha said the government will work under the guidance of Nitish and continue his policies.Highlighting his legacy, Jha said the party was built through “honesty and sacrifice” and stressed that Nitish Kumar’s influence remains intact among the people of Bihar.This development comes at a time when Bihar politics is entering a new phase, with leadership questions emerging, as the NDA seeks to maintain stability in the state.
